This link is the voting roll call for the PA House that you can keep an eye on but I am not positive if it will show committee roll call votes or only Full House roll call votes.http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/....cfm?rc_body=H

Which 2 bills were defeated? IMO, HB 18 is the most egregious of them all. I live in Philly, so I would be on the bad end of the stick if Philly were able to make its own gun laws!

The one that wasnt defeated, and held for comittee was the one about you have to report you r gun if its stolen.

The one you are refering to, and the gun-of-the-month where both defeated.

Excellent news!

It's kinda funny how we have to beat them every time, but they only have to win once. I'm relieved for now, but I'm 100% sure it'll be re-introduced over and over until they get the desired result. Only then will the "will of the people" be trumpeted by these grabbers.

Lawmakers Reject Rendell's Appeal For Gun Control
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) ―

A legislative committee on Tuesday soundly rejected two gun-control measures just moments after Gov. Ed Rendell made a rare appearance before the panel to personally appeal to lawmakers to think of families torn apart by gun violence, not of lobbyists.

After Rendell spoke, the House Judiciary Committee debated little before defeating one bill to limit most handgun purchases to one per month and another bill to empower local governments to enact their own gun-control laws. The votes were 12-17 and 10-19, respectively.

Legislators tabled a third bill that would require owners to promptly report lost or stolen guns.

In remarks that lasted nearly 40 minutes, Rendell highlighted Pennsylvania prosecutors' dedicated efforts to pursue violent criminals, efforts he said are being overwhelmed by a flood of illegal guns.

"Tougher law enforcement, real tough law enforcement, hasn't stemmed the tide," Rendell told the panel.

Rendell gestured forcefully as he spoke, his voice occasionally rising, and slapped his hand on the table to punctuate his speech. At one point, he waved color-coded maps of the state that showed rising gun violence statistics.

Sitting next to his state police commissioner, Col. Jeffrey Miller, Rendell was backed by a row of dark blue uniformed officers in a packed hearing room in the state Capitol.

Legislators sat silent as he told them that they have the power to save lives and stop people from buying handguns in stores, selling them on the street to criminals and then claiming the weapons were stolen or lost.

"For 12 pieces of silver, they're selling guns to people they know are going to use them to maim and to kill and to rob and you have to stop it and you have the power to stop some of it," Rendell said.

Rendell's appearance follows a three-week period starting Oct. 28 during which five Philadelphia police officers were shot, one fatally.

Rendell, a Democrat who served as Philadelphia's district attorney and mayor before becoming governor nearly five years ago, has grown increasingly frustrated by the violence that has snuffed out more than one life a day in his home city for three years running.

However, gun-control measures are always contentious in Pennsylvania and historically face an uphill fight in the state Legislature, where lawmakers have to balance the interests of urban communities concerned about violent crime and rural areas where the hunting tradition runs deep.

Even some of the "no" votes were cast by Rendell's fellow Democrats, who hold a one-vote majority in the chamber.
