Question Re: RKBA Pro-2A Legislator Lobbying & Education Day: 10/23/07 9am-3pm in Harrisburg!

Is anyone from the Philadelphia area going?

I'm interested in organizing several people to share a ride and expenses (mileage, parking, etc.). At this point, I would consider being either a driver or a passenger.

The Southeastern PA region really needs to be represented at this rally. We need our legislators to understand that gun control doesn't equal criminal control. We also need them to understand that the "Don't Snitch" mentality of many Philadelphians is a much greater contributor to violent (unsolved) crime than illegal guns (not that I'm condoning them).

More restrictive gun laws won't deter criminals, because it will just give them that many more laws to ignore. Why is this truth not self-evident to everyone?

Since I don't always check this web site, you may contact me directly at either:

M.E.Charles(at)Gmail.com or 215-331-1220.

The Lehigh Valley Firearms Coalition has found a business to open their parking lot to us, located in Allentown.

Anybody in the Allentown area that wants to park their cars for a "Park and Ride Carpool" email me at

webmasterNO-SPAM@levfc.org

Remove the words no-spam before sending.

Participants of each auto will have to decide on who drives, payment of gas and parking etc.

I highly recommend everybody carry a cell phone so communications at the event between the car poolers is easy.

I'm not trying to criticize anyone, or toot my own horn, but for those of you who "can't afford to call off" or feel that "making money comes first", please consider how much your presence will help. Again, I certainly don't know your personal circumstances; so, if it's truly a hardship, there are no hard feelings here.

I too have no vacation time left for the year. My day off will be unpaid, and will be a 'black mark' on my attendance record. I make $14.00 an hour, and losing a day's pay is a significant pinch on my budget. It won't bankrupt me, but it will be noticed. If I could simply write a check to make a difference, I would do that; but, in this case I believe that my personal presence is the most effective thing I can do, so that is what I will do. It's not an 'easy' choice, but I do believe that (for me) it's the right one.
</soapbox>

Since I'm coming from Chambersburg, it doesn't appear that I'll be a useful carpool for anyone else who's posted to the thread, but I'd love to meet up with some of the PAFOA guys for lunch or something, just to put some faces with names.

Also, if anyone has an inside track on preferred parking, etc., that would be great.

In order to help provide car pooling for rallies in the 4 counties served by the Lehigh Valley Firearms Coalition, the coalition is now trying to find business who can help our cause.

If this web page does not get a response in time for the rally of Oct 23, at least it is up for future rallies.

Please click here and put out the word to any business you think may be able to help.

Excellent points, I will be there and after reading your post I hope to have the opportunity to shake your hand and say thank you in person.

I got someone to work for me and have taken a vacation day. I'm in the Johnstown area and want to attend. Would like to share the ride, since I have no idea where I am going. Anyone out there I can hook up with along the way or that will be passing thru someplace near by that I can meet you all at. I don't mind driving. I just don't know where I am going.

Now, is anyone taking a CCW that is going to this event. We can't carry in the main buildings right. Thought I would ask ahead of time.

Last rally several of my CCW friends attended. There was a check in point where the firearm was locked up, at one entrance only. I did not carry because of the hassle of the requirement that CCW people have to enter at one entry point only. Any other point and you will be turned away.

The capital complex is a co called "secure building" conclead carry permit holders firearms can only be checked at one location (entrance off Commonwealth ave) and get this there are ONLY 8 lock boxes.

I must've used the wrong entrance the last time.. Cause I went down myself and asked the guard if they had secure storage facilities... He looked at me like I just grew a second evil head, and said in a very condescending voice... NOOO!, I said thank you and left... I half expected to be stopped by capital police on my walk back to my car.

I WILL NOT travel 60+ miles from home without a firearm, and I'm not about to leave it in the car, just for the sake of an illegally secure building. THERE IS NO LAW that says we can't carry in the capitol building... and by not providing enough storage at all entrances, they are discriminating against us lawful gunowners.

I think the ACSL needs to rethink these sessions, and have them outside the capitol building.... Then the CCW issue doesn't come into play.
