Recently bought my father a Savage 99C in 243. We both seem to be having problems with it feeding the first one or two rounds out of the magazine. We tried another mag from his 99C in 308 but its still the same. We only used some 100gr Hornady soft points in the rifle so far as thats all we could find that was not highly over priced and available.

I was thinking maybe its just the rounds OAL is on the big side for a lever gun but I'm still hoping someone might have other suggestions to fix this feeding problem.

He wants to use the gun mostly for varmint and maybe give it a try during deer season.

Thanks.

This rifle was in my parents house when they bought it 13 or so years ago and it was given to me about a month ago when I moved away from Philly. The barrel is rusty and it is missing the front sight but all moving parts seem to work and move freely.
I do not know how to embed pics in my post so I am attaching one. Can anyone identify this rifle? I am curious as to who made it and just how old it may be.

Took my Winchester .44 magnum Wrangler out last night. I bought it as a "back up" rifle and loaner for friends would might need an "emergency" gun to shoot. I also wanted a Winny since they are now historical.

It was darker than usual and overcast with a slow drizzle starting up at the range.

I used the .44 mag Leveroution ammo. (GREAT STUFF)

At 50 yards I printed 3 hits across the center of the target holding dead on.

But here's my problem. Because of being older and requiring reading glasses for up close work (otherwise my vision is perfect) I can see either the target (no glasses) or the gun sights (with glasses), but not both.

At 100 yards I hit all around my smallish (one of those "exploding green dot targets you get at Gander) target. Not really good enough for deer hunting in my opinion.

Is there a way of modifying my gun without mounting a scope that will make sighting any easier? Or, are there any other tricks you have learned to deal with this problem. I DO NOT want to put a scope on it.

Maybe I'm just out of luck and am limited to shorter ranges with this gun?

My friend who was with me had exactly the same problem.

I was looking to get into rifles and I guess to start out, the easiest way would be a .22, so any recommendations. Just something cheap, and fun to shoot, or maybe just some non-recommendations if that is a shorter list.

Does anyone here have any experience with the KRISS Super V Vector???

I just saw it on future weapons, and I have heard about it on the new COD game... I pulled up the website, and I HAVE TO HAVE ONE AGGHHHH!!!!!!

Seriously though, it looks like an awesome idea. a .45 cal smg that has almost zero recoil? whats not to like? I just don't know if I would shell out more than a UMP conversion for one... I understand that they are pretty close in price, if not more, than HK clone smg's.

Any opinions?

I have a ton of other firearms which I can justify purchasing before a complete Ar. So, I figure I might as well get started as piecing these together seems easy enough. Starting with a lower (which correct me if I’m wrong is the only registered piece of the firearm) in the event the political figures go crazy again and begin banning again I’ll at least have the critical part.

Is there a wide variation in prices for lowers between manufactures? What kind of prices am I looking at if I buy a good solid mid-grade vs the low and high end?

If I wanted to build a match grade gun, worthy of amateur competition is the lower truly critical? What is the most critical part?

& what kind of price am I looking at if I build this up vs buying new (ball-park)?

Thanks,

Hey quick question a few months back in SWAT magazine they had a tantal with railed forearms. I contacted TAPCO, UTG, Ultimak and a few others waiting to hear a response back from others. Tapco is only one that emailed me right away Stacy Riddle @ tapco is very friendly. I know all AK47 pistol grips, stocks, receiver covers, the scope mount I am looking at etc fit the Polish Tantal. However, the hand guards are way different on the Tantal than normal ak's. I am looking for a rail system that will go on over that free floated gas tube and replace hand guards on a TANTAL.
From what I understand the UTG quad rail will work because it will go in place of bottom hand guard and than float over top the gas tube and gets attached via bottom etc. Any one have experience with this thing?

Are there any comparable carbines in 9mm (9x19) on the market? I swear you could fire that thing and just watch the bullet hit in the middle of the peep sight.

High cap mags and something that has minimal wood is a plus... (C&R would be a huge plus, but I doubt that kind of luck). Fun and tacticool is what I am looking for here ;)
