I stopped in at a new customer's shop today, to do some programming changes, and since one of the things he does is sell firearms, I brought a bunch of the high quality flyers with me to see if he would leave them out. Some friends of the owner were there, making a purchase, and I offered the husband a flyer. We wound up chatting, well him asking me questions and me answering them, for about a half hour or so. He, and his lovely wife, were amazed that people could actually open carry(although they didn't think they would be engaging in the practice). We touched on transporting, reciprocity, what a LTCF actually allows you to do, among a few other topics. The most surprising thing for me was that for whatever reason, he was under the impression that D.C. was somehow gun friendly. I'm glad we got the chance to talk, as that alone could have been a disaster for him. They thanked me for the information and they left more informed firearm owners.

Hopefully, we will have a couple of new members here, and they will find what they need to get any other questions they may have, answered.

Curious about other thoughts.....I currently carry IWb between the 4-5O'Clock postion. Over the course of carrying a couple of months I have built a collection of 4 holsters all right handed. Does anybody who carries at 4-5 O'Clock use a left handed holster? It has recently dawned on me that I would probably have an easier time drawing.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have to take a piece of equipment to Delaware next Monday (Labor Day). Drop-off is about 1/2 mile off DE Rt 1 around Milford at an undeveloped subdivision in a rural area (nobody around usually). I doubt I would be making any other stops along the way in DE. So having to Open Carry in public shouldn't be an issue (not that I think it would be a problem) From what I've found I would be OK to leave my firearm loaded in its holster on the passenger seat of the truck in plain view correct? I don't have a FL or UT permit (yet), just PA and MD. I've been searching but the search sucks and I just want to make sure. Am I missing something or am I good to go? Thanks.

York second amendment activist Steven Young, known here as Computer Steve, was recently accused by YCPD of using the York City Police Department's Facebook page to promote violence. His original post was deleted by the YCPD, but not before it was captured and saved by him in anticipation of the purge. (See link below)

His dastardly act? Using freedom of speech to advocate for responsible gun ownership and self preservation. That's right, he openly displayed his reverence for the second amendment, and attempted to inspire others to the same.

Since when is promoting the second amendment and gun ownership akin to inciting violence? Perhaps he should have heeded, for we've been warned many times over, such brazen open display of radical ideals is going to ruin it for all of us!

See the link below, and judge for yourselves, was he inciting violence, or was he merely advocating for lawful, protected activity?

So, I'm now the subject matter expert, I'm presented with the challenge of teaching some folks in my family the "art" of firearms carry. This is going to supplement some basic pistol classes.

I'm looking for suggestion of what I should discuss.

~Dressing to conceal
~Holster choice / retention
~Ammo/Mags/Spare Mags
~What If?
-Stopped by Police
-Involved in an incident
~What Else?

I've picked up a variety of knowledge and opinions over the 4+ years I've been carrying (some conflicting:) ). My goal, I guess, would be to have a sticky thread for advice aimed towards new shooters.

Thoughts?

I've heard this same story from more than one individual and it goes something like this ... Individual is pulled over for a traffic stop. During the interaction, the police discover that the individual is legally carrying a firearm and decided to run the gun to make sure that it is registered to the individual. As we all know, there is no gun registration in PA. They refer to it as a list of sales transactions, or something like that, and have acknowledged that it is incomplete. The check does not turn up the gun for whatever reason and the officer decides to confiscate the firearm.

Obviously you are not going to physically stop him if that is what he has decided to do but is there anything that you can say to deter him from taking your weapon? And if the weapon is confiscated, what course of action is open to you other than spending more on legal fees than the weapon is worth (i.e., you paid $500 for the gun, you can buy a new one for $600 and to represent you, an attorney is going to charge $700+).

Again, I heard something like this happen to more than one individual and am curious what is the best way to handle the matter to avoid complications? The obvious answer is to not get pulled over in the first place but if that has already happened and the gun is discovered and the officer tells you he is going to confiscate it, what is the best way to handle it?

In 24 days I will be turning 21 and plan on getting my conceal carry permit as well as a simple 9mm or .45 pistol. Once I have all the proper paper work I will carry this with me just about everywhere I drive. However I have heard left and right on the argument of what to do if you get pulled over.

Now I firmly believe and have been told that if pulled over I say "Officer I would like to let you know I have a pistol located on my left hip and in my wallet I have a permit to conceal carry", well okay something along those lines. However a few guys are telling me I keep my mouth shut. What is the best way to take this? I know if they cops finds what I was seeming to hide, I would be in deep shit. But if I tell him he may go beyond his given right as an officer and try to disarm me or take my weapon......so what do I do?
