I recently received my LTCF. I have done my best and continue to educate myself on the legalities of carrying and using a firearm in PA, but I am still nervous about interacting with the Police and how they will generally respond when they discover you're lawfully carrying a firearm. I'm interested in your stories of interacting with Delaware County Police, Philly Police, and PA State Police. What is the best way to communicate to LEOs that you're the good guy? Should I immediately declare? I've read of many negative experiences and it's too bad that in some ways I'm more afraid of being cuffed, held, scolded, and threatened by the Police than running into a criminal. No one should be afraid to exercise a protected, fundamental, constitutional right. How likely is it that a LEO, especially in Philly, would confiscate your gun if you got stopped in traffic or the street and were lawfully carrying concealed (or open)? It's a shame that OC is so unaccepted and hassled, especially near the People's Republic of Philadelphia.

no stories, but a good answer if they ask if you have a weapon in the vehicle is "there is nothing illegal in this vehicle", and then dont give permission to search. As far as OC'ing goes remember is is not a priveleged activity like CC, unless your in the commie state of phila. Basically don't be an asshole, save that for court and your lawyer, if they arrest you and cause you a problem as long as you were within the law you can always sue, them, their dept. and the local govt they serve.
hope you dont have a problem

I agree with the majority. It is none of their business, unless they are performing a search. Keep it concealed and you will not have problems.

The only story I have is positive one with the media police. I was picking up some Chinese food in media one day and as I was walking in the door my shirt blew up and exposed my S+W 340pd and some do gooder walking down the street seen it and called the police. As I was paying for the food two offices showed up and one of the officers walked up behind me and ask me if I was carrying a gun I told yes I was and he asked me to please step outside. When I got outside he ask to see my permit. The other officer call it in to check it. With in 2 mins. He gave it back to me and said your good to go. And by the what are you carrying I told him and said nice we wish more people would legally carry. I thanked him and went on my way.The whole time they never asked to see the gun. They both treated me very nice. Sorry for the long story.

That's great to hear a positive response from the police. I would like to think that the bad situations make it to the forums more often than the good ones. keep bringing the stories and hopefully more people will be encouraged to exercise this threatened right.
any OC stories from Philly or Delaware County?
