i just applied for my LTCF at the delco sheriffs office and today i got a letter from ridley twp P.D. saying i had to pay 10.00 dollars for a records check i thought this is what i paid the 46.00 dollars for anybody eles have to do this with there local P.D.

Never heard of that before. Records checks are typically done through the state police.

I had to pay... $15? I think to Pottstown Borough. It was worth it to walk out with the info 5 mins later. My buddy in Abington had to wait a week and a half for their PD to get back to him.

I don't know what that was about. I applied on January 2nd and only had to pay the $46. I never received anything from Marple Twnshp saying I owe them for a record check.

I think the sheriff is bending you over with this shit.

I would second the "bending you over" thought. Just not sure if it's the sheriff or your local PD. No issue like that for me and I applied about 6 months ago.

Any update on this (did you have to pay), I see it has been a while since the OP.

First time I've heard of a local DELCO municipality requiring this, although I have heard the MONTCO locals do.

When I got my LTCF a little over a year ago I was told the fee was $46, $40 for the Sheriff and $6 for the PSP check. No local check was required, then.

Now the DELCO Sheriff had some questionable practices back then but they seem to have gotten better of late.

I applied for my LTCF in Feb 08 at the Media Courthouse for Delco and it was $46 only. Sounds like the sherrif is testing the waters for a price hike.
