Default I've joined the team for the big win!

Today, September 26, 2007, I picked up my LTCF from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office while on my lunch break.

Now I just need to get signed up into some inexpensive defensive firearms courses and I'll be good to go.

Hey BronzeDragon,

Congratulations on receiving your LTCF and I hope that you are able to find a good firearms training course!

The only problem with the FIRE Institute courses is that they require a caliber of pistol bigger than the ones I currently own, or at least the basic three day course does. I'm sure they're swell fellas otherwise.

Congrats BronzeDragon!

You just missed a One Day Handgun Clinic that the FIRE Institute runs.
I don't know when the next one will be, but it was well worth the $45.

Be safe out there!

p.s.
Is your carry gun a C&R? If so, are you limited to defending yourself against crusty, old thugs?

The one-day course definitely looks worth while. I'm mostly going to be carrying to the range and on weekends. Anthony Arms has a similar one day course.

I work for the Commonwealth and we hang big metal signs that'll make the terrorists and other BGs go home because they say "no weapons allowed".

So a "proper" more modern semi-auto pistol is not high priority as I can't carry 5 days a week since I can't afford an attorney who could win the lawsuit against Uncle Eddie and the Gun Grabbers. (I don't see a point in leaving one in my car in the parking lot to be stolen by some punk ass kid.) Hi-Point, or something used, is what will fit my budget eventually. Hi-Point's warranty does make them awfully tempting. I'll have to see if Anthony's has one, or if someone's bringing one to the October shoot to see how they feel.

The CZ-52 is reasonably small enough to carry concealed if I had to (and if I could find an IWB holster that'd fit it). And the it is in quite fine condition, so I'm sure I could use it against sassy young thugs just fine.

+1 for Tony's One Day Handgun Clinic with the FIRE Institute. I attended the class he had this past Sunday and highly recommend it. I was initially going to go out to Anthony Arms, but ended up talking to EM at the September Group Shoot at PMSC and he put in the good word about Tony's class.

FWIW, I ran the class with a Bersa Thunder 380 and didn't have any issues. Well, unless you consider the next day factor: the bruise on my thumb from having to repeatedly cycle the safety/ decocker on my gun to get it back to being a DA first shot or the fact that my arms were a little sore from learning how to correctly grip my gun The only bad thing I have to say about the class is that now I want to go buy another gun....possibly even a Glock Just so you know, this is coming from a girl who owns 3 Bersa's (a Thunder 380, a Concealed Carry 380 & an Ultra Compact 9mm) and a Sig Sauer .22LR Mosquito - all of which have a manual safety/decocker and mag disconnect safety.
