Default CCW at a private university

Was reviewing an old thread where members were basically saying that you can carry at a University even though "policy" says no. When I went to the first week of school, we had a safety orientation from the Campus Police (and they are real cops, with powers of arrest, not just Security) where I was told I couldn't carry on campus. They said that I would possibly be arrested and almost definitely be expelled. At first I thought they were full of it until I realized something:

The University I go to is private. Doesn't this mean that they have every right, just like a private club or a private corporation, to deny carry on their premises? And before anyone asks, I have no clue if they get money from the State, but I doubt they need it (considering my whopping tuition.))

Opinions?
Comments?
Snide Remarks?
Recipes?
Dating Advice?
ANYTHING WILL HELP.......

Just like any other private property.
They can make any rules they want (well, except those that deny services to "protected classes", IE: minorities)

You can NOT be arrested for merely breaking a rule.

If you break a rule and they catch you they can ask you to leave. If you refuse you can be charged with trespass. Then you can be arrested.
They can also "expel" you, of course.

You go to Penn I take it? They will expel your ass if they catch you, but you wouldn't be doing anything illegeal carrying a gun on campus. This is one of the more common topic to come up. You basically have to weigh your $$$ investment against your desire to carry times your probability of getting caught. The whole proposition becomes a lot less risky if you live off campus, because no one can randomly search your room on a tip without a warrant.

A little piece of advice, member to member- dont tell anyone, anyone, that you keep guns in your place. I had a buddy I thought was completely cool. One night he comes home drunk as shit with some silly bitch and and asks me to show her my Glock! This was when I was under 21 and living on campus- not a good situation at all. I ended up paranoid and stashing my gun elsewhere for the rest of the year. A person you can trust to stfu is 1 in 1000.

Looking back, keeping a gun on that campus is a risk I shouldn't have taken- I dont know where Id be without that degree. Don't get caught, man- dont trust anyone, dont talk about your packing until you get that degree mailed to you. It's your ticket to easy-street and you dont want to risk it for the 1 in 1 million chance you get attacked in a way you can influence with your ccw.

yes, i carry on campus with the full knowledge that if i'm caught i'll be expelled. There are no legal repercussions, however, if i leave when asked.

Thanks for the advice, all.

I was doing thinking and realized that the UFA supercedes everything - the University may have Cops, they might even make an illegal arrest of me, they couldn't legally charge me,

BUT

As Zach said:

Good advice! Its sort of what I said to Marc in another post:
The risk of off campus crime VS the risk of getting caught by the Cops/ or a leftist classmate. I'll think about it.
Oh, I'm a private citizen; I don't live in the dorms (hah! Im too old for that!).

Hmmm.... thanks for the words, everyone

Lets weigh the risk here. I've carried in classes for over a year and have never been made. Now i'm taking a train from chester to a not so great part of Philadelphia daily. Not a difficult decision.
