I just picked up a recorder today. Up to 72 hrs.
Came with a USB cable and cd. $52.99 Olympus VN-3100PC Hopefully it won't be needed Tuesday.

VERY nice, compact unit. Easy to use, and good quality recordings.

Likewise... this is my plan for a situation where I readily perceive the need for "evidence". If you're an iPhone 3G user, there are a number of good apps available for audio/video recording. Some even save as mpeg4 format with really small file sizes. What I'm looking forward to is a bluetooth earpiece that allows you to trigger the record function with a simple touch of some button. I'm sure that this is probably already available, but I don't want to have to "jailbreak" my iPhone 3G to do it.

My Sansa e260 has a record button right on the side. One button press starts recording. It's quick and easy. I always keep it in the car since I use it for music. I'm glad to know I can use it to collect evidence.

My LG Voyager has the same thing. One touch recording. Not sure on the preset length though. But I'll have 8 gigs of space for it.

Hmmmmm......
How well does a recorder record if it is in your pocket or similar? And, as far as strategy goes, I'd imagine that you'd be better of NOT letting the LEO know you're recording (that may make the device a target for confiscation - though illegal). So how do you carry the recorder so it is optimally hidden (or inconspicuous) yet positioned for quality recording? I just briefly looked at these and other similar manufacturers. http://www.spygadgets.com/digital-recorder-pen.htm Anyone have experience with these? Though probably very functional - They look more gimmicky than performance practical. -
