I was turned down for a Montgomery County CCW ( see separate post).
I understand I can apply for a Florida CCW permit so I can carry in PA. My record is clean, just a local LEO who assumes without wanting the facts. Do anyone know of a good Florida CCW course? |

FL doesnt necessarily require a FL-specific course. You may already have the required training.

I would consider Utah, I am more familiar with Florida, I will have to read up on Utah. I do need the course though. Has any one heard of Dr, Einer in Huntingdon Valley. Does a course on Florida & Virgina. Any opinions or suggestions

Dr. Eimer charges the same amount ($100) for the FL CCW course. I only paid $50 for the paperwork process (fingerprints, notary public).
http://www.personaldefensesolutions.net/ccw/CCW01.html I will say that while I got what I needed, the course was really disorganized. It's advertised as a three-hour course, but it was still going on after about 3 1/2 hours when I finally left (and I only stayed for about an hour past getting through everything I needed to do...just sent some lead downrange after I was done with the paperwork). I was almost tempted to offer some operations management/process flow consulting advice.

Check out "Right to carry road show" just type that in. If they are in your area or close by, it's a all in one place deal. The site will tell you everything you need to know. They had the applications, Photo station, and a nice Police officer there at another station taking your prints. They put it all in a package and mail it out for you, all for $25.00 plus the $117.00 for the ccw ( good for 7 years now) It took less than an hour and it was painless. Not sure if they are in your area but check. Utah is cheaper and I think it gives you a couple more States which is good if you go to the west coast, otherwise Florida covers quite a bit of the east and mid west. Also Florida cost more money to renew but spread that out over 7 years not a bad deal for some Insurance....

Although UT gives you a little more coverage(MN and WA), if you don't have a PA LTCF you MUST have FL in order to carry there, the UT permit is only good in FL if you're a UT resident.
FL accepts NRA classes, for UT you need a specific course taught by a UT certified instructor. |

If you have a DD214 or Hunter Safety Course card - either will suffice for Florida's training requirement.
