Default CCW Specific to Monroe County

New to site... Glad I found it, it has had a wealth of info for me...

I just became a PA resident and finally got my PA license, tags, etc......

I noticed in some posts that they require Monroe County references??? Is this true.. What obstacles will I be facing trying to apply for a CCW... My record is clean, I have a firearms ID card from previous state.. ANy info would be helpful... I do have a friend in monroe county but i think he has and assault on his record... Is Wilkesbarre in Monroe county? I do have a friend there as well...

From the Monroe County Sheriff's website section on LTCF applications:
Quote:
2 References (Must be Monroe County Residents - Please refer to full instruction sheet for reference requirements)
http://www.co.monroe.pa.us/judicial/...ialNav=|34328|

hope that helps!

Go to the Monroe Co Sheriff's Office web page to download the application. Instructions are included:
http://www.co.monroe.pa.us/judicial/cwp/view.asp?a=1537&Q=604789&judicialNav=|34328|

PA is a "shall-issue" state. Therefor all you need do is fill out the application correctly , pay the fee and not have a disqualifying event on your record.
Remember that you can open carry in PA with the exception of a motor vehicle and Philadelphia as well as prohibited places (courthouse) without a permit.

Good luck. I am in a similar situation in Philadelphia. Moved to Philly from Florida and don't have anyone that I can really use as a reference in Philadelphia County. Since I work outside the city, most of the people I know live outside.

Yeah its kind of weird...

Although they dont state that you need to know your references for any period of time... I guess its just something for them to deny us with....

Right. I have friends I've known for the past 10 years in FL that are suddenly inadequate references because they don't live in Philadelphia. Seems like BS to me.

Default Never heard of that!

When I applied in Pike county, I supplied references who lived in NJ and NY states. I did not get any problem. Nowhere in the Pike county application is said that your reference need to be from PA or need to be local. What kind of requirements are those?
