Texas/Mexican Drug Cartel Incident
Hi, all.
I just received a call from my friend in in San Antonio. He told me that anything we hear up here regarding the Mexican drug cartel/border problems, to multiply it 10 times, then it would be an accurate description.
He went on to say that a good friend of his, who is around 70 years old, was driving down the interstate near El Paso with his grandson. Thankfully, in Texas, you can openly carry a long gun on a rack in your vehicle. As he and his grandson were traveling, their vehicle started to receive fire from a berm about 300 yds to their right. They were able to drive the pickup truck to a position that provided them with some cover, and the grandfather grabbed the rifle (which had a scope), while the grandson grabbed a pistol from the glove compartment. They started to return fire, and after 3 minutes or so, the firing stopped from the far away berm. Luckily the grandfather was able to call DPS (TX State Police) and the Border Patrol. They asked if anyone was hit. They were fine, and to the best of their observations, the assailants had fled the area. Apparently it is quite common now, for Mexican drug cartel members to snipe at motorists, in order to kill them and steal their vehicles. I'm just telling everyone this story, because one can never be too careful when on the freeways. Stay safe, and stay armed.
