When I went with Keith4001r and his wife to that OC dinner at the Roosevelt Tavern last fall, we drove down Duke St and went through what looked like crappy areas, then at the destination, when we got out and it was dark, the streets right there reminded me of Baltimore. I almost had a flashback, but the 9mm on my hip assured me I WAS not in Baltimore, and I felt leagues safer ( since I was without a big dog LOL- but gun beats dog anyday). Also, all 3 of us were carrying. Funny was the joke Keith made at a red light on Duke st on the way in ( still light out). He said if anyone tried to jack us here, they would be in for a hell of a surprise! I LOL'd. He had a 9mm Ruger, the wife I think had her .380 bersa ( she stayed CC whole time), and I had my XD9 subby.

Yesterday I took the Gen Mgr of the Roosevelt Tavern to the York Rifleman club as a guest.

I don't think there will be any problems having another dinner there. We discussed this today. I think it was his cousin that arranged the dinner meeting you are talking about.

And while you are all inside eating safely, you can rest assured the camera system I installed is watching your cars.

When I conceal carry I am still asked for money when walking down the street. I am still approached by bums, and I am still stared at and sometimes followed. I can't pull out my gun to shoo them away - that's brandishing and stupid.

When I open carry - they simply leave me alone and sometimes get up off the stoop and move away to another block. I don't have to do anything except mind my own business and continue towards my destination, amazingly uninterrupted.
My e-friend in Knoxville TN told me that after I urged her to start OCing ( I am BAD! LOL- I looked the TN laws up for her first of course), and she actually started doing it, that these bums that used to ogle her and ask for money or whatever annoying things they used to do, stopped cold once they saw her walk past OCing, and they haven't bothered her again. Though not too many other people have even noticed her doing it, and she certainly hasn't had any police come and heckle her about it ( Knoxville sounds pretty pro-gun). Basically the people we don't want to have to deal with ( criminals, weird or aggressive homeless people), notice the OC, and everyone else either doesn't notice, or they don't get alarmed ( except a few hopolphobes and some cops).

here's a pic Oleg Volk took of her

Funny that you two brought up the Roosevelt Tavern.
My wife & I had dinner there this evening.

It seems as though I may not have been the only one in the room who was armed.

During our meal, a party of four who were seated at the next table got my attention when I overheard one woman say "What reason does it say on yours?...Protection too? Well I guess that is a good reason to put on there."

As I look over I see her handing a LTCF back to the guy across from her while talking to the guy beside her.

LOL My eyes went straight to the two men's hips.

I didn't see any printing or OC but then again I was CC & not printing, so who knows.

With 1 in 10 or more York Countians having a LTCF, I'm sure the times that I am the only armed person in a crowded local resturaunt are few & far between.

On a side note, I have casually met that woman several times... I know her sister... I sat there racking my brain but could not for the life of me remember her name! Dontcha hate that?!

Well a while back I was at the place me and the folks go to eat at alot and at a table over this guy sat down and was printing really badly LOL. This is a small place, and at least 2 people in there were carrying. I love PA! LOL

Same place again- met a customer there for lunch, he is a PA resident and I joke with him about OC. So he shows up and takes his jacket off and OC's. Then I get comfy and take my vest off and OC. The waitress and owner were joking about how safe they felt with us in there, and lamenting when we were leaving.

I am certain that if some nut started shooting inside the walmart, that about a dozen armed citizens would out themselves. Also this guy I know through my trapping but lives in MD, goes to this church in PA, and last I talked to him, he said at least 5 guys carry during the service every sunday. I need to find out which church this is.

The wife and I eat at the Roosevelt a couple of times a month and I have spotted more than one CC'er but never an OC'er. Come to think of it, I have never seen anyone OC. I try to be fairly observant while out and about and just have not seen it. I will have to keep my eye out for you walking around your shop, Steve.

I have, however, seen a YCPD officer walking down the sidewalk while on duty with no magazine in his G22. I debated telling him or not and realized it was a guy I went to the academy with so I was able to bust his b#*%s about it.

The following comments come to mind... just pick your favorite:

A) I feel so much safer now!

B) No wonder they can't hit the gangbangers!

C) He didn't want to set off the shot spotter.

D) He was just setting a good example, everyone knows guns are safe, it's those pesky bullets ya gotta stay away from!

E) A senior officer was bragging that he went 20 years without using his gun so this guy figured why carry that extra weight of a magazine around all day.

F) Yeah I know there's no magazine there...Have you seen the price of bullets!?

G) Cartridges are so expensive, fully loaded magazines are going for 3 dozen donuts & a large coffee on the black market!

...or... buying drugs at known location, traded vehicle for crack, known as a "crack lease".

Midnight at the corner of West/Princess.... sheeeit I'd follow the Marines in there but not on my own.
