I'll have to find out what kind i had.

I used it for a couple years pretty regularly for my Glock 23.

After about a year, the zippers started to wear and slowly come undone. I dropped that Glock pistol about 6 or 8 times out of that thing till I stashed it.

if i must conceal a little better, I use a Kahr P9 Covert in a Mitch Rosen IWB, in a Kytac Pockit Lockit pocket holster or a DeSantis ankle rig.

I'm not sure if I'd ever use one again

I have one (no laughing), but I never use it because they make you look like an idiot or a man carrying a gun. Heck, I don't even think tourists wear them any more.

I used it about 5 times while walking the dog, then gave it up for a real holster. Perhaps they will come back in style one day?

The problem with gun fanny packs is that they don't look like real fanny packs. I met a guy at one of my wife's concerts, he was talking to her band leader about joining the group. He mentioned something about needing approval for any part time work. I asked what he did. He said, "I'm a Special Agent." Having met arrogant FBI guys before, I said, "oh, you're a guard at a mall" He got visibly irked and said, "NO, I'm an FBI Special Agent." To which I replied, "I wondered why you were carrying a gun." That bothered him even more because he didn't realize that anyone with half a brain could tell a gun fanny pack from a regular one.

Well said. I cannot think of one commercially made fanny pack that is made for concealed carry that doesn't LOOK like it is made for concealed carry.

My solution, use a normal fanny pack. I personally have several depending on the situation in which it is to be worn. I prefer a larger pack that has approximately 325 - 400 cu. in. capacity with two main compartments. In the front compartment I carry my wallet and cell phone. In the rear compartment (the part closest to your body) I hand stitch on several pieces of the hook portion of velcro so that it covers most of the back surface. I then do the same with the loop portion of velcro and sew it onto an Uncle Mikes IWB holster w/ thumb retention (size 1 fits both of my Kel Tec 9mms).

This allows me to secure the pistol at an angle that aids in drawing the pistol but also keeps it in place so it doesn't flop around inside the compartment.

Smaller packs (100-200 cu. in.) are good for wearing with shorts if you have a small gun like a Kel Tec PF9 or P3AT. No room for phone/wallet, etc.

I personally like the Outdoor Products Roadrunner pack (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___90487) because of size and, especially, the straps that allow you to "tune" the tension between the pack and the belt to keep the weight close to your body. The big downside is that they use thin nylon material and single stitching and the pack starts to fail after about 4-6 months. I've been through 4 in about 2 years. Plus side is that having your checkbook, phone, or whatever in the outer portion breaks up the profile so you don't "print". It can be REALLY obvious in some models.

As far as wearing it, I prefer it to be worn on my fanny (it is, after all, a fanny pack) just off center to my 5-o-clock so I can access the zipper portion with a Large pull tab the same as if I was wearing it IWB. Also, with the loop portion of the velcro on the holster, you can easily remove the whole thing and wear it IWB if you want to and it won't stab you to death like the hook part will.

As far as looking like I'm carrying. Not likely. I carried this way for over 2 years and my wife didn't even know. My in-laws aren't aware. Other parents at soccer, scouts, Chuck-e-cheeses, etc. Everyone likes to joke about my "man purse" but in actuality, the REAL joke is on them. The few people that found out why I wear a fanny pack have been astounded. Typical response is "But....but...you're....a nice guy!" Also, a good launching pad for a conversation on why guns aren't bad.

I use mine daily.

I hope this answers your questions some.
