How many spare mags do you carry?

It's the same every time this poll runs.

I guess many people don't realize that in many instances, it's not as much the ability to have extra ammo as it is the chance of a malfunction being magazine related.

The gun goes click instead of bang. Many don't know how to get the gun up and running again in a second nor will they think to move off the line of force if they have to do a malfunction clearance or even a reload,let alone moving to cover if possible.

I get a lot of "it's my daddy's Colt 45 and has never failed ,ever" type of mentality from coworkers and if i put a dummy round in the pistol, they stand there and look at the weapon in stunned disbelief.

You can lead----well I may be preaching to the choir---or maybe not .

I'm carrying 3, plus 1 in the gun for my 92FS. Sometimes just the 1 spare. When I get my nice shiny new, locally custom made leather mag holder (this weekend I think) I'll routinely carry 2 spares.

Cathy carries 2-4 spares, usually 2, for her 1911A1.

Ok. Let's say you're involved in an armed conflict, and you experience a magazine-related weapon failure. What do you do?

I carry 1 spare magazine and one spare speed loader. I usually carry one semi in the pocket and a revolver on the belt.

I am currently working on carrying my XDM. So far I only carry that at its 19+1 capacity. No extra mags. That is subject to change though.

If I am carrying my Colt Commander:
I carry 1 cocked and locked and 2 more mags with 230gr GDHP. 21 total rounds

If I am carrying my Glock 32:
I carry 13+1 and a spare 13rd mag of 125gr GDHP. 27 total rounds.

out of curiosity, what is the logic for carry more than one hi-cap magazine? if it comes to using your weapon, do you expect to fire 20+ rounds? it seems to me like shooting someone in a defensive situation and being arrested with 2-3 extra clips could cause some legal complications at the trial.

Didn't read the thread, did ya? Magazines fail sometimes. Do you want to have your gun stop working after firing one round due to a magazine-related failure and not have any way to rectify the problem and stay in the fight? I don't.

Carrying 2-3 clips could never cause legal complications.
