Default Hello from Arizona!

Greetings all

I am on business here in sunny Arizona, teaching these folks how to make things round on a lathe. I had no trouble getting through the airplane stuff with two pistols, although the airline has given me enough trouble in other areas. And it is virtually impossible to talk to anyone who first language is English. But overall I am having a good time here. So far it is CC because of work, but in a couple of days I will be turned loose for a couple of days to go to the Grand Canyon, and it will be OC for me. I will even be meeting up with a local OC guy who posts on THR for lunch.

I was sitting at lunch yesterday at a diner with a couple of people I am working for, and there was a truck parked out in the lot covered with NRA stickers, pro gun stickers, etc. The NRA medallions were huge, something like 24" in diameter. I made a comment about it, and one of the men looked at me and told me in a very solemn voice, "Why out here in Arizona, it is common to see people walking around with a gun strapped on their hip right out in the open!"

I looked right back at him and replied, "Well in Pennsylvania, it is not uncommon to see PennsyPlinker walking around with a gun strapped on his hip right out in the open!"

It turned out that the owner of the truck was a woman in the diner. And the way she was built and dressed, it would have been very difficult to conceal anything, much less a gun, if you get my drift. But hey, she looked to be one of us. So now I am on the lookout even more for some folks toting their guns. Pictures of me to come in a couple of days.

Just since I posted this a few minutes ago, I got an email from Mrs. Plinker and a PM from a fellow member here warning me about the feds changing the rule about CC in a national park. That stinks, to put it mildly.

I was just going to tell you that when I read your original. Good thing I read all posts before replying. I'll be down your way in a few hours. Picked up a SP101 from a member here and I'm heading down to Shimmerville for a range test.

Enjoy Arizona.

Wife and I have always wanted to visit Arizona. Glad you're enjoying yourself down there. Not that it's easy to do to you, but Phoenix has the 2nd highest rate of kidnapping in the world (behind Mexico city) ... so be careful...hahaha

Hey Bill, if you get to Prescott, check the phone book for my namesake.

Also, the place I couldn't think of when I talked to you last was called Jerome. http://www.jeromechamber.com/

Try to stay out of trouble out there, and enjoy yourself a little.

I'm the local OC guy who posts on THR.

If everyone is PA is as pleasant as PennsyPlinker, we could use a lot more of you out here to counter the effects of some of the Californians we're getting.

After an enjoyable lunch and looking into some custom gun leather, the last I saw PP he was bound for Jerome, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon.
