And, we often see students in classes mistakenly grasping the rear most magazine first which then presents issues with subsequent reloads. If you want (or need) to carry two magazines, IMHO it's best to use two, single cell pouches.

Depends on what type of double pouch. I have a double pouch that allows you to carry the mags w/bullets facing out. It's a G&G.

If you want to carry 2 mags on your belt, just get two single mag pouched. The double ones are like a block on your belt, atleast with 2 single mag pouched they conform to your body better.

Yea, the double pouch hooked together is a little stiffer. Also, mine can be put on your belt horizontally or vertically. I get used to it though, with all the other stuff on my belt, like pepper spray, flashlight, knife, cell phone, Multi purpose knife.

I know I sounded like I'm at odds to carrying more ammo, however I'm not - just my individual climate is generally far from even needing more than what in the pistol. but there are times I gotta travel to a high crime area - do have a spare mag somewhere..
On a side note - any of you guys/gals know of any good double mag carriers for Walther P99 double stack mags? Something that kinda matches the Galco holster at link below??? I'd like some sort of mag retention flap though, every pinch type I've seen and used never positively retained mags when you're bent over .....or rolling down a hillside(happens to me alot ).http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterG3.asp...1942&GunID=195 |

If you have decided to carry an extra magazine, the spare magazine device
you have choosen is just as important as the choice of holster that you carry your weapon with. I am partial to leather, single or double, belt or clip for concealed carry. However the carbon plastic "clip" on from Blackhawk "QDC" #c 1318(single) works excellently for my .45 cal ACP magazines for Colt, S&W, and Sig Sauer pistols. The K.I.S.S. " principle makes the difference. If for any reason a deadly force confrontation goes to the point of a "tactical reload", or a "combat reload" has to be executed, I have trained myself to get the magazine to the well of the weapon in the most direct manner. Weakside carry, projectiles to the front and lots of practice so that it can be done quickly and smoothly. "Smooth is Fast, Fast is Slow". I carry the weapon, as well as the spare magazine the same way year round. I have used the term as well as having it seen posted in threads: The manner in which one trains, is the manner in which one will respond to in a crisis situation.

I have used the method when loading magazines to "tap" it with some force into the palm of the hand. To insure the magazine spring "sets" properly with the cartridges and follower. Never have had a failure to feed. However I reccomend that the magazines be cleaned and inspected periodically. Good maintenance is important and should never be taken lightly, your well being will depend on it.
