Thumbs up Re: Carry your spare mags!

While I don't carry an expansive load out of other things I ALWAYS have at the very least 1 extra mag, usually it' 2 - 3 extras. Two in a mag pouch, 1 in either my back pocket behind my wallet or in the leg pocket of my carpenters jeans which I prefer, those and a Smith 642 as a backup.

I foget who said it, but the phrase "I don't want to be killed for lack of shooting back." comes to mind.

Murphy's law is always in effect, carry the spare mags.

Sometimes I carry the extra.....many times I don't. I find that if I need to throw on the full array as I'm rushing out the door, I'll just forego the gun altogether....and that's not good.

As a pistol shooter, I'm better than average, but I'm planning on running my a$$ off in escape just as fast.

I think everyone got something out of it. It's a very valid point for a number of reasons. It is a good idea to carry a spare mag, its just that some of us opt not to.

that being said, i carry a few spares in my car, and if im going into a "high risk area" i might throw an extra in my pocket. and i never carry a mag more than 6 months old. i usually buy 3 or 4 mags at a time, test fire them all, then use 1 at a time for a few months before retiring them to range mags.

The biggest mistake people make......

They don't shoot the h&ll out of their carry gun.

oh i shoot my carry gun more than any other i own, i just use older mags when going to the range.

i still dont shoot nearly enough. i'm currently not a member of any club, as i got fed up with new rules etc.... at my old one. so for now im restricted to the sgl range.

I'm still actually awaiting my permit, I bought a S&W Sigma .40 it came with a 14rd mag and a 10rd mag, giving me a total of 25 shots if need be. I've been around guns all my life and have actually been in bad situations where I've had bullets zinging past.

I had actually been planning on keeping both mags on me, but I'm wondering if i shouldnt just go and buy another 14rd mag. it's only 4 more shots, but that could be the difference.

I would like to keep another mag or two in my vehicle just incase as well, but I dont forsee me wanting to carry anymore than 1 spare on my person.

Part of the big thing behind a concealed weapon to me is keeping it concealed, if the other person doesnt know I am armed, then thats to my advantage and the more stuff i'm carrying the more of a chance i could give up that advantage.

Still need to find a good holster that has a mag space in it.

Just get a belt pouch for your mag. I have one on right now, among other things that are on my belt and I can conceal them perfect under a polo shirt. Putting your spare mag on your strong side is going to slow your reload time. The only time you should have your mags on the same side as your gun is if you have one arm.

Beat me to it. Carry the extra on your weak side.....bullets facing forward in the pouch.

Yea i was actually just looking online this morning, and saw a few that carry 2 mags and it actually just looks like a cellphone pouch. So I may end up getting that. Probly will get another mag since it holds 2, if i have the space I might as well use it i guess.
