I'm glad everyone had a good time.
Wish I weren't so far away because I like to meet other forum members in person and there are many of you that I'd surely like to meet one day. Good job Mrs. Pa Patriot! Thanks for representing "us" in such a positive manner. The money raised today was a great gesture, but what's most important is that you all had a good time while exercising one of our greatest rights as Americans. My guess is that there will be very little said about "those gun rights people" by the media. A large group of decent, hard working Americans laughing, eating hot dogs, and sharing stories doesn't really make great headlines... even if there were guns on people's hips. Try as they may, the media can't make you into something you are not.

Tootie and I had a lot of fun, met some old friends and some new and put some new faces to some board names.
Pennsy? All I can say is you are a DEAD MAN when Tootie sees you next time for your little comment on the picture. Secondly, you JUST HAD to use the one picture when I am trying to scream over the crowd right? Lastly I just have to say this in public ..... some of you have seen me and Wild Bill Klinton beat the hell out of each other here on politics. Well I am going to eat some of my words here and say it in front of the whole gang, Bill & I agree on more than you would ever see here and we found that out today. He is a gentleman that is willing to debate you logically face to face, willing to listen to your side and accept it .... if I were a resident of Dupont I would be proud to vote for him as the new mayor .... Bill, my hats off to you for not being all talk! To all the rest I met today for the first time, I may not remember all the names but it was damn nice talking to all of you, bantering points and just shooting the bull. To see such a diverse group of people, all thoughts and mindsets come together for the common goal is amazing! OH and last but not least to Frenchy. I got one of your pens in the auction and all I can say is WOW. The craftsmanship is beyond profession. I will treasure that pen for many years .... very VERY nicely done! |

Just returned home from the eastern picnic. It was great!
Good food, lots of laughs and some interesting conversations. The trip took a bit longer than expected. There are approximately 53 bridges between Altoona and wherever the hell I went and every one of them had a sign "Bridge may be icy". Now I, being of a curious nature, stopped at every one of them (OK I confess. I only stopped at the first 47 bridges) to check for ice. What a waste of time! Here's an idea... Why don't we sell those signs to an Eskimo village along the oil pipeline and invest the money in an ammunition factory in Johnstown? Eskimos could use those signs, Johnstown could use the industry and we could all use more ammunition! But back to the picnic... It really was a good time. Right up until the gorilla asked me to help carry the coolers to the truck. He never told me they were walk in coolers! I carried several of them and now my knuckles are dragging on the carpet! Thanks to everyone present for your hospitality and friendship. I very much enjoyed meeting everyone. ![]() ![]()

Walked into the restaurant and discovered that I was the "Old Man" of the group. That made me even more nervous as I half-expected those young kids to start whipping out their firearms and such. Never happened, and I walked away with a lot of respect for those gentlemen. Today was great. The food was great. The people were great. Did I mention the food was great?

Good job on the donations guys.
We managed to scrounge up a couple hundred bucks for FOC out here on the western front. Looks like everyone had a great time and despite the doom and gloom nay-sayers the sky didn't fall. P-11 SHOOTER

Well, first I would like to thank Greg for getting this picnic started.
Second, I would like to thank the Patiot family for their efforts in making this picnic a HUGE success IMO. You may not see it anywhere in print, but I have to believe we changed some people's minds and perceptions of just what kind of people we really are. Some will never except us, but I feel better knowing we as a group, made a positive impression on some today, even if they don't say it. My wife and I had a great time today. It was nice to meet some more of the great members of the PAFOA. I didn't get to meet all of you, but I will make it a point to try and do that next time. BTW, Pennsy, nice job on the auction. I really wanted one of those pens, but times are tough right now. +1 to Frenchy for donating those for the cause. Hope to meet you next time. One last thing, my wife wanted me to tell you all, she really enjoyed meeting everybody today. She said she never saw so many people wearing guns before and having so much fun. One thing she said to me that struck me funny I guess in a good way, "You know I didn't see one gun come out of a holster the whole day" {Not sure what she expected, crazy people with guns....lol} I just told her, "That's just the way it is with real gun owners. They aren't any different than any other group with a common interest. " {Our toys are just louder...lol} This was also the first time she has ever been north of Quakertown. I have to take her back up that way in the fall. What can I tell you, I married a city girl. She said she's never seen so many trees and mountains before...lol.

It was a nice outing and wish we could have stayed longer. My son Alex had a blast getting to shoot at people with his little nerf gun. Also he seemed to enjoy flirting too =D.
Thanks guys for the awesome time.! |
