Although it's all about rights to carry, sports, any kind of sports and guns don't mix. On the professional level or sand lot. One needs to only watch the news about little league parents going bizerk and beating up an Umpire in front of kids. Or a father on a football field who plowed down a player for tackeling his kid. I was a soccer coach for 19 years and I've seen it all. Perfectly normal parents were going to beat the heck out of a ref. when I arrived at the field. And I mean all of them! My size and the language I was using was the only thing that detered these people. I even had a player from another team start a fight with one of my players and both benches cleared right before my eyes in a matter of seconds, and parents on the field as well.
All of the above things really happened including my personal experiences. What would have happened if guns where in the mix? I'd hate to think of that.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has ever coached anything. Of course everyone else will coment as well,(perferably if you have kids) but any Gym teachers, or any kind of coaches out there have an opinion on this isuue?

Wow.

1) Sorry, but other people acting like idiots does not and should not negatively effect MY choice to carry!

2) With all these nut-jobs going berzerk at sporting events it makes me MORE inclined to carry at them. Actually, I tend to avoid them, but thats a discussion for another thread...

3) Speaking of these nut-jobs... If one is the type of hot headed moron that gets in a fight at a kids sporting even then one should not be carrying a firearm ANYWHERE. Again, since I am NOT one of those people, keep your gun prohibition to yourself, thank you.

Obviously it is the "sports" that are inciting the violence. No problem, simply ban them! - Right?

It's the mentality of the people, not the sports or the guns!
Carry your heart away. I would hope the few people that do carry at soccer games and such would not get involved in such stupid actions. I've seen it first hand and I repeat perfectly normal parents.(not with guns) I don't believe there have been any incidents involving guns at such events anyway so purely hypethedical. There has been a few kooks with knives at pro baseball games though, that has happened.(the father and son kooks come to mind) Banning anything is not the answer. There are no answers only laws, and there is no law against it in pa, correct? Let's see if anything happens next season as far as the comment about taking guns away from people if they bring them to the soccer fields.
Who's going to enforce that one? By the way do you have children in sports?

Bold Mine.

Agreed on the mentality!

Yes, my son just had his first season of soccer. Now he's just 4-1/2 so everybody just cheers no matter who does what. I do imagine that things will get more partisan as he gets into older, more competitive leagues.

I believe in personal responsibility. The incessant nanny-state mentality ignores or at best wrist-slaps truly bad behavior and throws up a never ending array of ineffectual, feel-good laws and regulations instead of dealing with the root problem. The end result is that those that know how to "play-nice" lose their freedoms, and those that don't just continue to act out.

Maybe I'm just from a different time. I played (soccer) up through high school varsity (twenty some years ago) on a very competitive team (we took 2nd in the CT states). On the field we never shied away from playing soccer as a contact sport - our coach was a Brit semi-pro - but you can be sure that if we had cleared our bench or provoked a fight, the ass-kicking would have come at our expense, by him - parents too - I never saw one get out of line.

When this happens, the games should be banned if not the parents.
Never should a citizen's rights be trampled due to hooligans and criminals.

ETA= Others beat me to it. But I was so incited by the statement I immediately responded.
