I just posted on that forum, although I must have hit the submit button twice. I used the same thing I wrote in another thread on this forum ...

Quote:
What people are to blind to see is that crime can and does happen everywhere.

Ask the students at Virginia Tech or Columbine, the folks in that Oklahoma Mall a while back, and right here in Pa in Nickel Mines if they thought they'd need a gun in gun free zones BEFORE they got shot to hell.

The argument "you don't need a gun here" just doesn't float any more.
Bill

Quote from Shefearsnothing: "We recognize the entire Constitution".......

Very well said! I went to the Huffington Post blog that was covering your story the other day and I said things along those very lines. But the fact is in our society obeying the Constitution, whether state or federal has become the exception rather than the rule.

I'm suprised the parents haven't yank their kids from the soccer teams yet in protest if they are this upset...

Ahh.....but that would take actual backbone, not just running their mouths.

The one constant I continue to see is people complaining about something they don't like, but yet they steadfastly refuse to do anything but gripe about it.

IMO its all about the complaining, if they where that worried about her having a firearm they would go running for the woods when they saw her instead of running to a reporter.

I would not condone that. Punishing the kids? I mean, it's their personal choice of course but the kids are CLEARLY not afraid of anything. Honestly, if you went to a game you'd see that none of the parents even pay attention to me either. Think about this for just a minute (that's all the time you'll need to take, I promise). If you were nervous or uncomfortable around someone with a firearm wouldn't you be paying a LOT of attention to them? I can tell you half of them are so busy socializing with each other they are not paying attention to the game and the other half are actually watching and cheering. They are NOT watching me. How do I know this? Well, I watch enough to know what's going on most of the time but I am watching the rest of the park, parents etc. Ask me how many are there, where they are sitting, how many are sitting or standing, how many people are off to my right kicking around a ball, how many people walk over from the projects adjacent to the park etc. I can tell you. Situational awareness.

My husband took a chair to the last game we went to on Wednesday. He was going to get one for me and I said NO WAY. Less awareness if I am sitting down. I can't easily turn my body around to see what is going on in the rest of the park. I am not going to restrict my line of vision like that. Just me of course.

That about covers it.

Same situation as the guy who's "nervous" about seeing another guy OC, but then confronts the OC'er, more or less angrily.
