Depends..
1. If I'm carrying my 1911 or P99 - right hip with shirt/jacket cleared. 2. My Vaquero - a high ride cross draw, its already pointing somewhat towards the driver's door. 3. In the console. Even if I'm in a nonrolling accident, it'll stay in place and not fly out of reach if needed. Last edited by knight0334; February 28th, 2007 at 09:57 PM. |

If I carry it's center console or the ol' seat wedge trick. When I used to work and drive in some bad areas of NJ (can't carry) I used to "carry" a 6 or 7 inch military clip on boot knife on my seat belt so when buckled up it was in a cross draw position across my chest.

since you have to pick to be either shooting or driving (doing both at once means you'll do neither well) it's somewhat of a moot point. If escape is blocked and you have to be shooting your way out, release your seatbelt with your off hand, then access your weapon and bail out (or bail out and access your weapon depending on the situation). You want to be out of that bullet magnet and behind some cover or moving as quickly as possible.
I also cheat. I carry 2 guns and one of them is on my ankle, so it's very easy to access while seated. |

I cheat and just stick my gun under my left leg just above the knee. I spend alot of hours on the road and this is the most easy to get to and after a day in the car SOB, or kidney is a pain, literally. Also a shoulder holster on long trips eases comfort and accessibility.

I must keep my firearms under my control at all times due to occassional transport of my kids..so I may not ever get sloppy about where I store a firearm that is not under lock and key. I usually store it in the tight spot between my truck's spilt seats. It does require a strange manuever, on my part to holster and unholster, as I enter and exit my vehicle but I feel better with it there. (friends call it the Ned Nancy Dance)(They call my internet grammar(NedSpeak) lol.

I do the sholder holster for long trips. I can't' do the unbuckle weak hand but I'm quite good shooting weak hand and I can get it out weak handed. I may look like I'm doing the chicken thing but I can get it done. Practice, practice, PRACTICE!

And I want to make sure it's concealed. I don't want the bad guy making a grab for it because he saw it before I saw him |
