I once had an anti-gunner tell me that he wasn't so sure that the Holocaust was a BAD thing.

Scratch an anti-gunner, find a Nazi.
Can't rep you yet...have to spread it around some more.

    Thank you.

Sorry. No sympathy for omao in the whitehouse. That man and his administration have done nothing but try to increase racial tensions.

Gays who are bullied and attacked based on their sexuality need to have the option of lawfully defending themselves more than most groups.

There is no better protection of bleeding heart liberal values like personal freedoms of expression, religion, and human rights than "good guys with guns."

I am a practicing LTCF holder in Philly. I am a clean cut, straight, white guy without a police record, and not a member of any of these groups.

However, on most every pro-gun forum I find, there are racist, sexist, bigoted remarks that don't have a place in civilized discussion on any subject. Why is it necessary to call someone a "butch ****" who has an opposing view, or make veiled and not-so-veiled racial disparagements (especially anywhere the President or urban issues are discussed.)

I am interested in strengthening the 2nd Amendment. To do so, shouldn't our mission be to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of responsible ownership? If you were one of these groups, would you feel like PAFOA is a welcoming place to come and learn about gun ownership in PA?

While getting my LTCF in Philly, I made several trips into the licensing building. Most of the applicants were black.

We are "shooting ourselves in the foot," in my opinion, and missing out on opportunities to educate and expand our support base to different groups of people.
I agree with you in principle that the collective of gun owners ought to be inclusive and tolerant. I believe they are, but like any other group in society there are exceptions who relish bigotry and the chance to express it.

However, I haven't seen much of that here at PAFOA. There is some. It is inevitable whenever the opportunity for freedom of expression presents itself for a publicly accessible audience.

I am signed up at two other gun owner forums. After a week on each one, I stopped going back. Not everyone there was bigoted, but the ones that were expressed their bigotry frequently and with much hostility. Here I have for the most part found civil discourse with the acceptance that there are point of view other than one's own. Still, in some cases, even in this thread, there are those
who express their disagreement with another's opinion by insult and condemnation. That is an inevitable shame.

I am very satisfied with the PAFOA forum. In my mind it is an example of a well run forum populated by mostly open minded and friendly people.

    People tend to become confused.

Gun ownership is a civil right. The ACLU is an organization devoted to civil rights. So why does the ACLU overlook the fact that the Second Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights, and gun rights advocates consider the ACLU an anathema?

I think it is because there are those who want to be divided, so they can derive some weird form of succor from believing they are all terribly oppressed. Then there are those who want us to be divided, so they can control us.

Between them they do a pretty fair job of keeping us divided.

P.S. - Delusions are, by their very nature, very hard for those afflicted with them to detect. So it is with misogyny and racism.

Ergo the closed logic: "Hey, it's not racist if it's true."
