Actually spoke with a buddy of mine whos studied a few different styles of knife work than I, and he supported that attack as one he was taught and agrees with. Though he does explain it a bit different than you; he says the initial stab aims somewhere between the anus and genetalia, 'taint' if you will, and rips forward. The way I was thinking of the attack was the defender places his arm all the way between the attackers legs and stabs with the knife from back to front. Either way, I dont want to test it on myself, as Im fairly sure no one would want to continue a fight with a knife embedded in their 'tender vittles'.

Good question on the gear Sluggie. Ive tried pretty hard to have all my tools at ready grasp on my person, but still avoiding 'bat belt syndrome'. Took some trial and error but I got it down. Starting at 12:00, I have a Gerber Covert folder clipped inside right front pocket, pistol on right hip at 3:00, KaBar TDI fixed blade carried IWB at 6:00, Nitize Maglite holster and Bianchi single magazine holder at 9:00, and Sabre OC spray clipped inside left front pocket. Sometimes I carry it all, sometimes I mix and match to taste. Nothing looks out of the ordinary sans pistol to the common observer; light and mag carriers look like cell phone/pda holsters, and everything else just shows pocket clips.

Oh, and before anyone warns me on the dangers of carring belt gear at 6:00 over my spine, the TDI knive and kydex sheath are very flat and thin, and in my opinion dont pose a serious spinal injury risk if I fall on them.
