Thumbs up 1st time cc'ing

This weekend was my first time carrying concealed. (Yes, I've got my LTCF so all was legite.)

Saturday I picked up a Ruger P-345 at the York gun show. Saturday night I had date night with my wife (ie: my 9 month old daughter had date night with the baby-sitter). I spent most of the afternoon "fake" cc'ing. As in, I had purchase the fire arm and the holster. But I did not as of yet have ammo. My wife and I got a nice deal at Dick's and I loaded the spare magwhile she drove. So I had my gun holstered but unloaded. But a loaded magazine in the holster pouch. I confess that I did leave the firearm in the car when we went to see "Iron Man" in the theatre. Wasn't quite ready to pack around so many children. Nor did it seem a comfortable prospective to sit in a tight theater chair while concealing. Okay, may seem a little lame but...Hey, this was my first time, "like a virgin", and I didn't have a friend to show me the ropes either. *lol*

Sunday, I open-carryed the whole day. Even in church. (Later showed my pastor the .45, he thought it was pretty sweet. He had almost gone to the gun show with me.) Later my wife and I went out to the range and I finally got a chance to fire it. Put about 50 rounds through it. Definitely a much different piece than either my .22 pistol or my GP100 .357 revolver.

You will get to the point to where you are about to leave the house and you will get the feeling that your missing something and then you will look down and be like.....ahh my firearm.....I feel naked now if i leave the house without my firearm. It wolny get easier from here...spend the money and get a good CC holster if you already do not have one.

Congrats! I agree with the above comments, it does get easier and you start to feel naked without it. Soon enough you'll forget to pull your shirt over it and then you'll be OC'ing haha. be safe.

My first time cc'ing was illegal! I was cleaning a .25 at my house when someone came to the door. I put the pistol in my pocket when I went to answer the door and forgot about it.

Hours later I had to go somewhere and went out forgetting I had the gun in my pocket. I was sick later when I reached in my pocket and found my gun! That was a one time and one time only - totally unintentional.

Later when I finally got a licence to carry, I felt VERY wierd walking around with a gun in my pocket. That feeling continued for probably a couple of months.

Its been a few years now - I cc and never think about it. It will probably be the same for you.

congrats!! AAAAAAAAHHH the first time, I will always remember that. Keep carrying and taking full advantage of the rights that we have in this state, and if you havent, practice drawing from your holster, and get used to carrying one weapon, that way you can master the way it feels, weight on your belt, quick draw when empty and get good with that, and take a safetly course if you havent, and you will be good to go.

Welcome to the ranks of the armed and polite.

But I gotta ask...why didnt you carry the GP100 if you had it? At least you kept it in the Ruger family. Cant go wrong there.

And just to mention, its not very wise to carry an empty gun, but since you were doing it just to pop your cherry, and only for a day, cant jump on ya too hard. Same goes for carrying a weapon you bought at a gunshow, but had yet to fire. More warning on loading mags in a moving vehicle, though, as thats downright dangerous, and can look verry bad if you happen to end up next to a LEO at a stoplight.

Congrats!

I've been CC'ing for almost 2 years now and the feel of a firearm on my hip has become as natural a feeling as having my wife on my arm.

Yeah carrying just gets easier and easier. Now if I go out without carrying I feel naked. Well done.
