I've decided to do what PA Patriot and gnbrotz have done and start a thread chronicling my OC adventures...
Let me start out by saying, I am a clean-cut, well groomed 28 year old overweight man. I'm normally dressed in blujeans and a t-shirt with my Glock 22 (.40 caliber, full frame) on my left side in a Blackhawk Serpa. And now, onto todays adventures... I was over at Waterworks Mall, doing some shopping and killing some time before a job interview at Seneca Valley EMS (Hope Hope Hope...) this morning. Dress today was business casual - Light Blue Polo, Black Slacks. No cover garment (Was enjoying the nice weather!) For those of you not familiar with the area, Waterworks Mall is an upper-middle class shopping center/strip mall between Aspinwall and Fox Chapel, in a small sliver of the City of Pittsburgh, near the Highland Park Bridge. Both areas swarming with soccer moms and various other "sheeple" First stop Panera Bread. Walked in, and people started screaming and running for the door as if there was a fire in the place.... ok, no, no one had any reaction really... ordered a Multigrain Bagel, Creme Cheese and an Iced Green Tea. Had a pleasant conversation with the man at the next table regarding my "pea shooter", and (jokingly) being challenged to hit a pop can across the parking lot by a pair of Mall Maintenance workers. Next, Walmart for a new shirt for the interview (All my nice polos have stains on them ) Spent a half hour or 40 minutes browsing the clothing and HBA sections. No reactions from anyone there. Then down to Supercuts for a quick trim - not even a glance... Then I spent the next couple hours just killing time, taking some photos around (found a neat old fire hydrant by the old pumphouse behind the mall!) Disarmed for my interview and secured the weapon in my handy-dandy Center of Mass in-car gun safe and had a promising interview with the Assistant Chief of S.V. EMS. Returned to the car, retrieved the weapon and re-armed myself, then got gas at Get-Go (Woo Hoo! $1.60 off per gallon! I love Fuel Perks!) So that was my day... nothing out of the ordinary happened, no police were called and everyone went about their business as if it was a perfectly natural thing. And the most important point... I OC'd in Walmart without the SWAT team being called! Other recent OC over the past month, Oakland at Fuel n' Fuddle and Mad Mex, as well as Ross Park area at a tasty Mexican restaurant that's across from Olive Garden. Also the Red White and Blue thrift store on Rt. 51, and The Getaway, a Wonderful Irish Pub near McNeilly Rd in Brookline/Edgebrook. Batteries Plus on Library Rd., and many many places in the shopping areas around Robinson Last edited by lildobe; March 24th, 2008 at 01:48 PM. |

Waterworks is a good place for OC. It also has more crime then you'd expect. Stores are robbed from time to time there and last year a woman was kidnapped there.

lildobe,
Have you ever seen this thread? http://www.pafoa.org/forum/concealed...ny-county.html ![]() You can leave this up as your own "documentary", or I can merge them. Your call. I don't mind, either way.

The OC in and around Allegheny County thread is not "mine" BTW.
There are at least four other members who've posted there, I just seem to have posted the most. Until I realized that posting that "nothing happened" while I OCd was a bit boring, and stopped posting.

And another day OC'ing without incident.
Got a comment from the manager of the Subway sandwich shop I eat at regularly - asking about the laws regarding carrying - I gave him the 30 second overview (Open carry legal - conceal carry needs permit - carry in car is considered concealed - PA shall issue) he seemed interested. I'm gonna take one of PA Patriot's fliers down there tomorrow along with an invitation to check out PAFOA ![]() Went with a friend to look at a house he was interested in (Lots of water damage and missing the furnace, all the copper plumbing in the basement and the electrical service panel - ick!) real estate agent took my carry in stride. Then dinner at Eat 'n Park, Banksville Rd and Crane Ave... Several City of Pittsburgh police officers in there. Couple glances, but nothing other then that. Yet again a successful, non-confrontational day
