Default Application

Ok friends, I have applied for my LTC. Let's see how it goes. Under this county's instructions it said: "Please be specific when requesting the type of license you want.....". I thought that there was only 1 type of LTC? The instructions also say: "...multiple check off's are ok. When checking "Self Defense" please give a short statement under "Other" to explain why this category is needed...". It then gave examples like: "Carry money from home to business" or "Transport gun from business to home". Anyone else have these same things asked in your application?

Congratulations on your decision and welcome.

I do not recall my app or renewal app. I think I just put down Self-defense.
I would try to be as general as possible because if you put down making safe drops for your business; then someday you might have to explain why you were on the other side of the state and involved in a legal shoot. It could happen. I don't think it really has happened yet but why leave anything to chance?

I would mention something about criminal elements.

I am not a lawyer (IANAL). Some others may have other options for you to use.

I checked "Self Defense" and under other I put "carrying firearms in a vehicle" and "execising my right" (under the PA Constitution). I am a former Vermont resident and as you probably know no permit to carry concealed was required.

Talking Re: Application

I never saw that on my application but I was asked that by the deputy taking my app, my daughter's app and several other friends applications. My answer was, "For the preservation of my life and to comply with para 6106 under Title 18 UFA."

But we are in Cumberland County, not gun-grabbin Frankland County.

I would check with the 800 pound gorilla on this one, but since this is a " shall issue " state, I don't think that department can make you jump through those hoops. Seems like they shouldn't be able to refuse your permit if you leave blank something like that. Some of these county sheriffs really think they are far more important than they are when it comes to making sh*t up.

From what I had heard about PA, I was surprised to see all that stuff on the app. But we will see. The Law is the Law and this being a "shall issue" state, once my background check comers back clean, I should not have a problem. Like I said though, I didn't leave anything blank, just wanted to exersise my right under the PA Constitution.

I'm local to you. I checked both self defense and collecting and it came through marked as "other." Go figure.

If you pass the background check, I don't think you'll have any problem getting your LTCF. My wife neglected to "explain" her reason for choosing self-defense and it was issued without question. I do intend to address these additional requirements with Sheriff Anthony, but it just hasn't risen to the top of my priority list yet. If I start to hear of this being a sticking point, I'll make a phone call. In the mean time, I'm trying to make a list of some minor points that need to be addressed so I can cover them all at one time.

BTW...Welcome to PAFOA!
