Default What would you do??

With all the chatter on here about cc & oc, 1 in the tube or not I was just wondering if anyone had been in a situation where someone tried to or did pull your gun from the holster while you were distracted or unaware of there presence. I ask because several yrs ago(about 10) I was oc and was with my cousins husband and he wanted to stop at his parents house. I was carrying s.o.b. and I had my back to the house. My cousins husbands' brother snuck up behind me and grabbed my pistol and before I could get control of it he had it pointed in the air and was trying to fire it. I had the safety on so it did not discharge and I was able to gain control of it and secure it. At the time I was really shook up by it and wasn't sure what to do. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so how you handled it.

I have never had someone attempt a gun grab from me - though I did hear some kids whispering about it while I was waiting in line once. I gave them a dirty look and they shut up...

But, in the end, situational awareness and a good retention holster are the first steps to preventing a gun grab. Weapon Retention Training and Close Quarters Defense training are the next.

Afterwards I'd be friendly and help him look for his teeth.

I was able to gain control once I relized what happened as quick as it happen I ended it. But I was unsure what to do next. I didn't know what the police would be able to do about it if anything.

Situational awareness as well as a good retention type holster can help prevent this from happening. But keep this in mind. As much as we practice with our guns, how to keep safe, shoot straight and so forth. Yhe professional crime element puts just as much if not more time into practicing their craft of tkaing weapons from people and so forth. Just something to consider.

I'm glad you shared your experience.

Throughout these OC vs CC threads I've always been consistent with a concern over a gun grab more so from a prankster rather than a bad guy. If you are in the habit of regularly OC'ing, use a retention holster.

Steel toe/shanked boot to the knee after I regained control.

Man, I must be in a pissy mood today.. I've been quite negative in all my posts.

A long time ago I had a guy make a grab for the 1911 I was packing. He would up with a dislocated finger. That stopped his intent.
