Oh sure, I get to be "that guy"

I don't carry with one in the chamber. No particular reason, other than I'm still not used to carrying.

For the most part I always carry one chambered, but if I know I'm going to be hanging out at a buddies house or somewhere similar, I typically don't chamber one. I'm not exactly sure why.

ahh ya beat me to it as I was reading through the pages and got to that heh.

absolutely, consistency is golden. consistency in a carry weapon (DA Glock versus a cocked and locked 1911 to thumb), trigger weight, and of course - have one in the pipe. You always must treat the weapon as loaded... so why confuse it?

Default Re: CC/OC with round chambered

Always carry one in the chamber. Why not? If you had a revolver, would you leave one round out? (I know, on older versions you had to to avoid accidental discharges, but not now). However, I know several people new to concealed carry, including my gun-savvy son as soon as he turned 21, who were "nervous" at first and left the chamber empty until they grew comfortable with the concept...and realized the gun won't go off magically by itself! After a short while, they all grew comfortable with their guns as well as the concept of carrying and moved to "locked and loaded" mode.

That's a very good point. I'll start to get into the habit of always carrying with a round chambered.
