Au contraire...

You know as well as I that if someone here does in fact carry Condition 3 they will be more than willing to let us know that we are all wrong!

Allow me to add a dimension to make this thread worth some salt.

Revolvers: Hammer resting on an unoccupied cylinder, or fully loaded?

Ive heard some guys leave that cylinder empty. After all, upon trigger pull the cylinder will turn so its not that much of a disadvantage right off the bat until its time for that last shot. A common practice in the old west, made unneccessary by modern firearms, as I understand?
That's some Old West type stuff. Your current understanding is correct.

Ace in the hole...

With newer revolvers, it's safe to have all the chambers loaded. There's usually mechanism to block the hammer from hitting the pin unless the trigger is past a certain point in the pull. UNLOAD your revolver and hold the hammer back with yoru thumb while working the trigger. You should be able to see the block move up and down.

If we all had revolvers you wouldn't have to ask this.

5 in my barrel and no safety!

Always.
Including the ones intended for home defense.

In my home, there's a very good reason to treat all firearms as if they are loaded at all times... they are.
Any firearm that may be needed in an emergency is "ready to go"... no need to "load it". (No kids either, by the way)

Is that telling enough for you?
