Question Transportation and use of weapons in Maryland?

I have a buddy who lives in Maryland who I occasionally get together with and do some shooting. He's been making the trip up to PA once every few months and is getting tired of doing so. He was wondering if I could bring my weaponry down to his place to do some shooting there.

How would I go about legally doing this? I realize I wouldn't be able to carry, openly or concealed, and that all guns would need to be, unloaded, cased, locked and separate from the ammo while I transported them.

What about other things like magazine capacity? Someone told me Maryland has a 10-round limit. Any truth to that? Are my 30-round AR mags and 15-round Beretta 92 magazines a no go? What about my evil Saiga-12 and it's 10-round magazines? Is that a no-no down there too?

The plan would be to to transport my guns to my friends house, go to the range and have fun, and then likely spend the night and come back home the next day. How does the peaceable journey law apply in this situation? My dad says he doesn't think it applies and would only be applicable if I were merely traveling through Maryland to, say, Virgina for example, where 30-round mags and such are legal. Is he correct?

Anything else I should be aware of? Or is Maryland just a nasty shit hole and I should just tell my friend that it isn't worth the hassle and he's gonna hafta drive to PA if he really wants to shoot that bad?

Maryland has been known to follow people back from shooting ranges to ensure they make a direct trip back. It's a risky state to shoot in, just to warn you. Assault pistols are also illegal, so keep that in mind as well.

No violation is committed by any person who can demonstrate that the handgun is being carried, worn or transported:

1. Too or from a place of legal purchase or sale or repair shop.
2. Between such person's bona fide residences or between his residence and place of business if the business is operated and substantially owned by that person.
3. While engaged in or traveling to and from a "target shoot, formal or informal target practice, sport shooting event, hunting, trapping or dog obedience training class or show."
4. By a bona fide gun collector who is "moving any part or all of his gun collection from place to place for public or private exhibition," and while such handguns are actually on exhibition.

During transportation to and from the above places, the handguns must be unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or enclosed holster.

Where'd you find that? Maryland doesn't have an assault weapons ban. Just assault pistols are banned.

I think you may be a little confused Karl, I seem to remember being able to hunt in MD with an ARXV, as long you abided by the mag restriction. I may be wrong, but I don't think I am as I grew up there hunting and shooting til I was in my early 20's.
