Once I get my PA LTCF and a good amount of bail money, it'll be fun to try OC in Philadelphia.
The BATF is the only part of the Govt that legally has a registry on your guns.
The BATF os also the only part of Govt that has the full records of guns and ballistics on legal guns, if they asked to see a specific gun, I would think the ballistics where similar to the ones of your gun.
The BATF is the only part of Govt. that can come to your home asking to see you still have your guns. If you are a gun dealer, they can do so once a year with out any papers, they can come back anytime later with papers and an invite, if you choose not to allow them to come, they can remove your licence. They are the ones that come knocking when you buy lots of guns in a very quick maner.
The other thing the BATF can do is make sure you never buy more guns, so if you did not do anything wrong, then the best deal is to work with the officers once they are properly identified, you can always say you will go to them and visit them if you dont care to have them in your home.

That at least is my .02 cents.

I was under the impression that the information the federal government gets about a gun purchase is the names of the people who buy them, and whether the buy a handgun, rifle, or shotgun, and that the PSP have a database with the more pertinent information about handgun purchases, i.e. serial number and make/model.

I feel as though I am glad to see that they are looking/canvasing the surrounding areas to see if the ones who have bought a 9mm still have it in their position, I am happy to comply with that, therefore I had no issue showing them what they were looking for, But they had to ask, I dont however it is their right to come into my house and inventory my firearms, I wasent about to allow that, They even said as not to excite the neighbors if 2 of them could come in with me, HOW ABOUT the 4 outside all carrying exposed loitering in my drive exciting the neighbors?
After I told them that I would get what they were looking for, I told them I was carrying at that point of time, I asked if they would prefer me to unload it, They didnt mind me carring conceiled, and didn't ask to see what I was carrying, Or to see my CC permit, I guess they already knew I had one,
I did get the cards of two of them, And have them in my safe now, They were pleasant and courtious throughout te whole thing, I told them that with what happened to the officer, and all the helicopters flying about all night long, and me with a 1/3 acre wooded back yard that backed up to some railroad tracks that I WILL be armed when in the yard day or night,,,,,,,,,
It was all okay, And I am glad to help with showing them what they wanted to see,
But keep this in mind----- Arent the records supposed to be purged every 30 days? How did they know what I had a year later? They are not supposed to!
So OC would be a big waste of time here, For me and the police, Plus there would be so many frightened people.
I still carry each day,
The AFT was good to me, and there was also a Philly violent crimes person with them, I have his name and # too!
It's a tough place here, Looking to move to Sullivan county someday!

Its the other way around, the ATF has the database, the records of sale and every thign. from the date of the firearm being created to the date is it last sold or removed from circulation.
The PSP is supposed to only have a records of sales if the gun is sold in PA only and for some 21 days only.

I am sorry i forgot to add, That after they saw the 9mm, Unused Baretta 92inox, 4 of them were off to go to the next house wherever it was, The last two asked why I had purchased x firearms in the past year, My reply was simple,,, "I collect cars, antique ones, and I have run out of storage room, and now I am collecting old firearms"
Most of what I have are WWII items and older,
The Beretta just presented itself in front of me, Unused with an unused 22 cal beretta conversion kit for a great price,
I have got to get that thing out to the range someday!

Am I the only one here that finds it incredibly hard to believe that the ATF was "canvassing" every person in the neighborhood who owned a 9mm?

Legal?, make sense?, productive?

The AFT was good to me you say in your last post. SO, were they hasseling you or were they good to you? If they hasseled you then they did, but if they didn't they didn't. Maybe you just have that as the title of your post because you thought it would be popular here to bash the ATF?

Why would they search for somebody with a legal firearm? This doesn't make any sense.
