In the end, he said, it's the voters who have the final say, since the Sheriff is an elected position.
As for my specific questions the statute does say 45 days, NOT business or working days as is the Delco Sheriff's Office states.
George's response to the employers being called was it's not in the statute, but there's no law against it either. George didn't understand why the Sheriff would do that.
George has heard a lot about the Delaware County Sheriff's mis-interpretations of the law though. Unfortunately, the AG has no jurisdiction in the matter.
Oh well,

Same as in Mr. Rotz's situation. When the sheriff disregards the law and makes a criminal of himself, a judge is the proper guy/gal to set him back on the path of rightousness.
Unfortunately, having rights in America can get expensive. The various CLEOs know that. It's kind of sad that someone sworn to uphold and enforce the law would use a position of superior authority and power to abuse the very laws sworn to uphold, but that's what we seem to be seeing out there time and again. Other than an NRA sized legal fee and lobbying warchest, there is no solution.
Ultimately the Delco sheriff is being very stupid in that people enntitled as of right to an LTCF are the very law abiding model citizens that the sheriff should not be alienating. The criminals already hate cops. If the cops start hasseling people proven to be law abiding, soon enough just about everyone hates the cops. Long term, not a good plan.
