Found another!
One of my fiancee's friends had no problem vouching for me, since she's known me as long as she's known her. Now to wait for Monday. I forgot what Indiana County's fee is, but the PAFOA page on it says $35. I guess I'll assume that's right and get a money order before I go in. |

I couldn't find the price on the sheriff's webpage. I'd check with them before getting a money order. I know Mifflin County says CASH ONLY. But Indiana county does say to make checks payable to Indiana County Sheriff.
How long have your references lived in Indiana County? Quote:

Roughly three years. They're both college students who have been here since at least three years ago. One graduates this year, one next year.
I'm pretty sure they said $35 when I went in, but if not I can just use a $35 money order toward one of my credit cards and go get another

I'd be surprised if they even call them...I'm kinda surprised at their requirements. Westmoreland County didn't care where they came from, and neither of my references were from the county. Damn, did I mention how it took 15 minutes in and out to get my permit there. Oh, and the girl who processes the forms....

The Delco Sheriff's Orifice called me. I was put down as a reference. I live in Delaware, the state. The applicant was approved.
Ask someone you know from New York, or any other state, they need not be PA residents. Rick |

That depends on the sheriff. Some don't specify residency requirements, others, as I posted above do.

Q. Who are qualified references? A. References must be: 1. Residents of Indiana County for at least 3 years 2. Must be 21 years of age. 3. Cannot live in the same household. 4. Cannot be a relative by blood or marriage. Is that legal, or just another Sheriff overstepping his authority by requiring the county residence requirement? Seems damn silly to me having to be 21 years of age. I bet that isn't enforced. What if your reference was 21 when you submitted the application but turned 22 by the time the application was reviewed, would that disqualify the said reference? It clearly does not state one must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Rick Last edited by RLS; December 16th, 2007 at 01:32 AM. |
