I find it absolutely amazing how much this differs from county to county.

In Chester County I turned in my paperwork and 15 days later my card arrived in the mail. I've read of other counties where you go in and they do everything right there. 15 minutes for a background check and picture and the person walks out with the permit in hand. Then there's Phila. county and Delco who do everything to prevent people from getting what is lawfully theirs.

Sorry for the rant but this is ridiculous.

He could be a great guy... <shrug> I'm not interested in being his friend. I have enough

I'm only concerned with his job performance.

Ultimately it is his responsibility to be on top of it. He is to blame for any and all inconsistencies, errors and illegal process.

She told him for a LTCF adn he said good, right over there.
Mine was well over the 45 days allowed by law, my wife got hers in just under three weeks, now I'm curious if it's just the ladies that don't get the hard time ...

It took a week for a renewal in Lycoming County. They do not require photos here.

All I was trying to say is the sheriff is a decent guy, which I met and talked with him in the past, I have alot of friends and family who are LEO and I sometimes side or defend those who are good LEO's. If this is your first LTCF be patient, I'll get it soon and be able to enjoy carrying. As for my grammer hey am not perfect then again who is!

Whoa, leave philly out of this. The bad part about philly is how long it takes. The judges here are in no way in the commish's pocket. If he steps too far out of line, somebody's suing him and he gets a spankin.

Delco is a Nazi encampment within PA. For the guys who say that sheriff is not such a bad guy afterall, check some of the things he is quoted as saying in the paper. Most of the time his heart may be in the right place, but not all the time and there is no question he views himself as the maker and the enforcer of the law. Good luck with that. We ended our ties to the monarchy and dictatorship back in the late 1700's. Somebody should get that sheriff the memo.

Yeah I mean he revoked someone's LTCF for a speeding ticket. I suggest you wait until you get your permit and then start to raise a stink about it.

He's not a "good LEO." He's breaking the law, employing staff who are arrogant about the fact that he's breaking the law, and generally trying to impose his own will rather than upholding the laws of the Commonwealth.

Being a "decent guy" is fine. This is about his professional performance, not whether or not he's a good guy to have a beer with.

On my initial LTCF in Butler County, it took them a whole 5 days, including calling references and the time to mail me the card (that's to say, from the time I showed up to apply in person to the time the card came in the mail was 5 days). On my renewal, it took 20 minutes in person (to fill out the app, wait while they called PICS, and took the picture). There is no excuse for the Delco Sheriff. None.
