The sheriff is an elected official. Thus, the oversight is the people.

The Sheriff is elected by the People.
If you want to ruffle feathers, you could write to the County Commissioners, or you could file a Personal Criminal Complaint against the Sheriff for violation of the Uniform Firearms Act. Don't know if the county's District Attorney would take action on it, though. A civil action through the Court of Common Pleas is another alternative, but an attorney might be needed.

This guy is really getting to be more trouble that he's worth. When is this tard up for reelection? Thats the only way you will get rid of him. The AG isn't going to give a sh*t about all the jerking around with permits and such.

Hopefully he'll not get elected at the end of this term. I renew in 2009.
I don't know how many people are actually on here from Delco, but it could be worth showing up in a group at one of his reelection things where questions can be asked. |

I am all for that. It sounds like a great idea. In addition maybe we should find a candidate to really challenge the guy for his elected office.

Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law (the Commonwealth's version of the Freedom of Information Act) requires a non-Commonwealth agency (the Sheriff's Department) to respond to a request for public information within five business days (yes, it does say business days).
Delaware County issues approximately 2,700 LTCFs per year. Recommend a Delaware County resident submit a RTKL request to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office asking for the last 100 LTCF applications submitted, what were the LTCF submission dates and what were the LTCF issuance dates. (I recommend the number 100 since that's not an unreasonable amount. Instead of a fixed number you might ask for a specific month, but don't ask for an entire year's worth). The Sheriff's Office cannot ask you why you want the information. Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law is available on-line. Read it. Become familiar with it. Use it as a tool. After you get your response (and there are provisions in the RTKL to force a response, including having them pay attorney's fees), tally up how many exceed the 45-day limit, and then fire off a letter to the Attorney General, backed up by facts.

Still, 100 copies would only cost 15 bucks. Though, if they have to redact (black out) people's ssns and other information, that makes it a dollar a piece just for redaction. |

gotta either do something about it; or quit bitchin and let them walk over you like everyone else... everyone here would already agree he's no good so bashing doesn't help anything

At the very minimum. every single person that has had their LTCF take more than the 45 days should be filing a private criminal complaint. It costs nothing.
It appropriate because he IS breaking the law. There are no exceptions. He has 45 days. I fail to see the reluctance on peoples part to file the complaint. |
