I feel that I missed part of the story. When did you receive this letter? I live in DELCO and have not yet received such a letter. What do you think prompted this to be sent out?

Thanks

My wife and I each got one this past week. I have no idea what may have prompted it but I did write a letter on November 30, 2007 to the PA Attorney General's office complaining about some of the Delaware County Sheriff's practices concerning the LTCF. No response as of yet.

Here's a copy:

Quote:
Hello, I live in Delaware County, PA and have a couple of questions about the PA License To Carry Firearms (LTCF).

I am a current holder of said license and know of a few other LTCF holders here in DELCO as well. The Delaware County Sheriff, when conducting the investigation for the license not only calls the references you list on the application, he also calls your employer and tells them exactly why he is calling. Now my employer is a gun owner and didn't mind but I can see how that would bother a lot of anti-gun employers thereby possibly tainting the responses to the Sheriffs questions. Is the Sheriff allowed to do this?

Also, it took well over the 45 days allowed by law to receive notice I was approved and among the LTCF holders I know both of these practices are commonplace with the DELCO Sheriff.

One other note, the Sheriff a month or two ago, sent out a full color pamphlet about the LTCF to all LTCF holders in DELCO and it was not enclosed in a plain envelope, it was simply sent with an address label attached so anyone that saw it would immediately know it's nature. If that disrespect of my privacy wasn't enough it contained a lot of factual errors about the license and laws in PA that were in direct conflict with the information provided on the AG website.

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You for your time.

Bill *****

No, for two reasons.

I wanted to see if the AG would respond and what that response would be.

I don't want to be revoked because he thinks I'm a detriment to society or some such nonsense.

He needs to get hammered.

I'll send the letter if you want. (I'm fearless)

PS:
Is he even old enough to be sheriff?

Looks like a junior HS class photo

Remember I live in DELCO, someone here wrote about getting revoked by McGinn because of a speeding ticket for crying out loud.

I have neither the time or money to fight such an idiot, but someone does need to straighten him, and a lot of other Sheriff's in this Commonwealth about gun laws.

I took a Utah class for the non resident permit and had a hell of of time finding a DELCO law enforcement agency to do my fingerprint card. Even the DELCO barracks of the PSP refused, along with the Sheriff and a few local PD's. I ended up getting them done by the very gun friendly Chester County Sheriff.

Feel free to write McGinn, unfortunately, as is the case time and time again, the average citizen (like myself) can't afford to lose time from work or have the buckets of money that's required to fight these self righteous idiots in government.

Should I ever pick that top winning Powerball number I'd sure as hell offer an education to them then, but alas, I have to live in reality here, I don't have the time or money, and I don't want my rights revoked.

Those of you who can, thank you very much.

Bill

Consider it done.
A packet, including your letter (without credit to you) goes out in Monday's mail.

Default Re: Delco Update

I emailed the AG to complain about the price of the LTCF and not being sent the expiration notice that is required by law.

This was back in the middle of October. I never received an answer. Then again, I emailed the Sheriff's office in June and did not receive a reply until August. They must be really, really busy in both offices.

I think I will go the corporate route to bypass the CLEO sign off when I submit for my SBR stamp. I doubt Joe McGinn will sign it.
