Constables are NOT included. Sorry. My bad. I have edited my post to reflect this. Thanks PA Patriot for making us aware of this.

That article has me all pissed again. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone is going to this hearing Jan8 from up north, or even as far south as Lock Haven area, and is willing to give a me a lift I'll split the costs with ya. You know I'm serious if I'm willing to give up a day of hunting.

I don't know if this is distasteful or a good idea, so I'll post it anyway.

Since the hearing is going to be Jan 8th, and since some of us would like to get out there to support Mr. Rotz, and since Chambersburg is in a fairly central location, would it perhaps be a good idea to combine this http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/forum46/6405.html OC dinner with a show of support at the hearing? We could keep the courthouse's gun check busy, and maybe bring some media attention to both the case and the OC cause... not to mention send a clear message to the local law enforcement about what the law is that they are supporting.

Just an idea...

Awesome idea, IMO.
It's a long drive for me, I'll want some food in the boiler before my return trip
And I too plan on OC'in to/fro the courthouse. Hope they have lot's 'o lockboxes.

Oh, I am so all over this idea, and the best thing is the Elks is right across the street, and it's where all the court employee's, attorney's, etc, etc go for lunch, and during lunch it's open to the public...............

Why did I ask? Because the newspaper article implied that Constables may not carry at the polls - Other than a local rule in York County, I'm not aware of this restriction.

My local Judge of Elections is good with me there in uniform and armed. I have encountered local police voting and none said anything to me about *me* being in uniform and armed... but if there's statute proving me wrong, I'd stop as of the 2008 primary. I just don't think there is.

I'm in much the same boat as a CCW citizen - I don't want to lose any of my authority through atrophy; neither do I want to cross the line and exercise authority I do not have.

I do think the Constable in question had every right to *request* Mr. Rotz to leave his firearm in the car. I can ask to enter your home if I believe a person is inside for whom I have a warrant. In both instances, "no" is an answer you can use - and have every right to use.

This is good to hear. Most LEO are like this, it's just a problem when the few that aren't make bad calls.

Great to see we're all on the same page.

Also, thank you for your participation in this thread. It's always nice to have both sides represented, even if it's not direct representation. I think you know what I mean.

And at this point, I'm glad we are all on the same page.

The problem now begins when the constable did not like "no" for an answer, and proceeded to use his position and influence to instigate proceedings with the local sherrif to revoke gnbrotz LTCF, which, in fact, it appears they did.

I applaud each and every LEO who works within the law to
perform their sworn duty. Any others that abuse the powers of their office need to identified ASAP, and be either re-educated or removed from said duty.
The faith and good will of the people towards all LEOs is of paramount importance to all concerned.

Stay safe,
mrwildroot
