Get together in Gettysburg, anyone interested?

I love Gettysburg! I saw pictures from he last little get together just after the law passed that you can carry in the parks but I wasn't on the forum then so I didn't go. Anyone interested in another one?

Ok here we go, looks like we will being meeting up touring around the battlefield and clean it up a little bit as we see trash or whatever, especially at Devils Den as that area is always the worst. Remember there were over 51,000 casualties on the site (deaths, wounded etc.) cleaning up a little trash is the least we can do to help preserve this National Park. So if your interested/questions/comments shoot me a PM or reply

I believe someone posted that they will call the park service to make sure we are allowed to clean up without being considered a liability.

That's a hike for me but I might be interested in going on a weekend. I haven't been out there since I was in boyscouts 5-6 years ago.

Be Aware:

OK to carry in National Parks

BUT - NOT ok to carry inside any BUILDINGS in National Parks.

Not quite. Buildings designated as 'federal facilities' are prohibited, and the law requires that signage be posted noting the prohibition. Any building that is not a federal facility is ok to carry in.

do federal facilities have to provide lockers to store firearms or is that only for court houses?

The storage requirement is mandated by state law for any building that meets the statutory definition of a "court facility" (lots more than just "courthouses").

I am unaware of an provision for firearm/legal weapon storage in any federal statute, and I believe if someone took a firearm into a federal courthouse, stopped before passing through security, declared it, and asked for storage, that they would have a VERY bad day.

Gettysburg isn't too far of a trip for me, I've driven further for less important reasons. If it is on a Saturday (except the 21st), count me in.

Do it before Sep 18, that is opening day of bow season in MD and I'll be in the woods attempting to launch an arrow into some venison.
