Default Is LTC the same as CC permit in PA?

I was told by a co-worker who use to work for the game comission that if he found me carrying concealed that i would be going to jail even though i have a LTC because it doesen't say anywhere on the LTC that i can cary concealed?

I know he is wrong but what if the situation actualy happens what do you do?

I would hope that you never encounter a LEO who is as ignorant of the law, and as stupid, as your co-worker.

Your LTCF allows you to carry concealed and a few other things as well. Your "friend" does not know what he is talking about. Here is a thread that has a printable flyer that will answer all of your questions. Give him one.

Ignore your ignorant co-worker

An LTCF allows you to
1) CC outside your abode or fixed place of biz (IE: public) Statewide minus the prohibited places. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6106)
2) carry a firearm (OC or CC) during a Pa. declared state of emergency. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6107)
3) Carry OC or CC in a vehicle (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6106)
4) Carry OC on public streets of Philadelphia. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6108)
5) Allows a person to loan you a handgun (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6115)
6) Exempts you from the prohibition of carrying in State Parks (CC only though)
7) Exempts one from the fed gun free school zone act provided the school is in the same state as the license holder.

I have printed a flyer and intend to take him one next time i am in his area. I travel quite bit around Pa and this is the first time i had anyone argue about the LTC premit. It seemed odd that he would not know the laws seeing that he use to work for the game commission.

I think i will make copys of the flyer and cary them with me so I have more of a leg to stand on when someone is as ignorant about the laws.

It's not necessarily odd at all. There are plenty of people in various areas of law enforcement who aren't very knowledgeable about what they're supposed to be enforcing. In what capacity did he work for the game commission? Is it possible that one of you is confusing a Sportsman's Firearm Permit with a License to Carry Firearms?

You can get professionally printed copies from this site. http://www.paopencarry.org

The owner of this site is also the author of the flier.

Thats probably why he used to work at the Game Commission, he doesn't know the laws.

The members above have given you some great information. You might want to tell your ill informed coworker to read it all. He may become educated.

Game Commission officers know even less about the law than the average cop. That is, almost nothing. In this case, your employee is quite wrong. It doesn't say anything about concealed anywhere on the license because it's more than a concealed carry permit, as Pa. Patriot posted.
