Default Question for the Ladys

I have a friend that carry's a .380 for defense, she's about 5'4" 120# or so.

We were talking about getting trigger time as she told me she only has 20 some rounds, and is afraid to shoot them [due to the difficulty in finding more].

I stated that not being practiced in shooting, that the firearm isn't going to help a lot unless you can use it effectively.

This led to her method of carry, zipped in a fanny pack at about her 11:00 position.

I asked her how long do you really think it would take for you to draw from there in a panic situation [ie. being physically attacked]?

IMO, she just be giving a weapon to her attacker.

She's not comfortable with her current holster [not sure what it is but she says it's to bulky].

I told her to try wearing it between the double D's. Comfort? concealed, Secure, Easy Access, but I'm not sure if they make a holster built for that location.

So I guess my question is this:

What holster would the women recommend for her size to be concealed and comfortable and above all accessible?

BTW, I sent her to http://corneredcat.com also

Hi, I'm using my husband's sign in to post this.

I've been shooting, carrying, and instructing for the past 25 years. I carry daily, year round.

My current carry gun is a Glock 26. I use a F.I.S.T. ultra-thin kydex inside the waistband holster. I also carry an extra mag in a comp-tac kydex pouch. I also wear a good stiff 1 1/4" belt.

I have used a fanny pack from time to time, but not as often as I used to.

The key, is buying your clothes with concealed carry in mind. It can be done with a little bit of effort.

Good luck,

DeAnne

I feel her pain... I have a .380 as well, and I literally have 15 bullets... Just enough for a full mag, a spare mag, and a chambered round. So, no shooting for me for a while. I have put about 500 rounds through it, though, so I'm familiar and comfortable with the way it works, but damn, the ammo's hard to find.

Practice is good, but having ammunition is better.
There isn't much to a .380, your basically going to point and shoot.

I dont really see what the point of 1k or even 100k rounds of ammo is if you don't know how to use the gun it goes in, or how it functions in the gun. Care to explain your thoughts behind this?

As I said practice is good, but "having ammunition is better". That statement applies specifically to this situation.

The girl has only a handful of rounds, I would rather have enough rounds to defend myself, then shoot them all up in practice, and have no ammunition at all. .380 is hard to find and expensive, I don't advise shooting the rest of your ammunition because it might be months before you can find more of it.

The question here isn't supply of Ammo, I can reload more that she'll shoot.
The question is about hostlers/carry position that would fit her stature.

Thanks for the input
