Hey, good for you..

I prefer something that fits me better, and I have only had 1 issue with a FT Feed, and it was someone else's re-loads...

That is in a Vertec, P-345, XD, S&W snubby, Dan Wasson M 15,Ruger Security-Six........

The ammo issue was with the Kimber....

Carrying a H&K .45 Compact as we speak. Fits ME well, Thats what really matters. Also get VERY familiar with your carry piece before you CC!

1911 models are proven performers. If that's what you want, try them out & get one that fits your needs. If you don't, you'll be second guessing yourself for years.

Keep in mind that pistol development didn't stop in 1911. If you find that the 1911 doesn't suit you, there are plenty of Glock, Sig, HK, S&W, etc models out there to choose from. Take your time, look around & don't buy until you find something YOU'RE satisfied with. There's no rush.

Any input?

I have shot the G26 and did not like the feel. I like the 23 I have, but would like something smaller and more concealable.
Ruger P-95 is a fine sidearm. I when out & about that comes with me, when at home, I stick a light on it for home defense.

I tried the 26 and did not like it. I do like Glocks I have a 23. BUt I think and feel it is too big for conceal carry.

I have never shot a kimber , but the gun feels nice in my hand. I have held the EMP as well and love the feel of that also.

The colt commander was the same size as my 23. So no go with that.

The trigger on both the kimber and EMP is awesome. Since I never shot either I didn't know if anyone on here shot or owns either for a CCW.

Well I think I made my decision, EMP or the Springfield 45 PX9801LP.

The age old question 9mm versus 45 and that is a decision I will make.

I'm also a Glock 19 fan and do carry one when I carry OWB.
I frequently carry a S&W Model 36 in a Desantis pocket holster. I don't consider the weight excessive, and it's a lot nicer to shoot with the 158gr. LSWC-HP +P Federal "FBI" load that's in all of my .38s and .357s. It's the gun I carry when I know I'm going to have to disarm, as I have to here when I eat at a decent restaurant.

I also frequently carry a Glock 19. I wouldn't carry any Glock smaller than the 19/23. The others are just too small in the grip. Mine is very accurate, especially with the 147gr. Winchester White Box JHPs that I use in all of my 9x19mm guns. Used ones are also usually very reasonably priced from places like Summit Gun Broker, especially the 2nd Generation guns like the one I bought from Summit. I never wear untucked shirts or cover garments in warm weather, so all of my other holsters are Don Hume 715M IWBs. They're a good way to try out a decent quality IWB holster without spending an arm and a leg. Unlike the crappy Bianchi IWB holster I bought the day I got my Ohio CHL, they're very easy to reholster.

Great Choice... I have fired this a couple of times and love it. I saw a used one at Target World a couple of months ago that I should have grabbed. They had it there for 599.00

Here are two cents from a guy that can't CC because I live in NJ (just got my FL CCW permit last week), but has also been doing a ton of research on my own:

1. Determine what caliber you want to carry or are comfortable carrying.

2. Determine what size gun you want to carry or are comfortable carrying.

3. Make your list of candidates based on those two criteria.

4. Go fondle and shoot as many of them as you can and figure out what you like.

5. Buy it.

Having said all that -- you already have a G23 that you like. Plenty of people CC a G19, and a G23 is essentially the same size. Just get yourself a good holster and you'll be good to go.

ETA: oops, didn't see this post:

If it's right for you, it's right for you. Enjoy!

Either is good. I prefer a .45acp, keep us updated.
