Now, here is a question - Why are the LTCF permits only good for 5 years? If you get one, and keep a clean record meanwhile, why should it be necessary to renew?
They won't know you have kept a clean record until they have checked you out. Besides, it's all a money scheme anyway.

Where in the second amendment does it say anything about being required to meet a statute! If you have to get permission via a license or permit to carry out an activity, it is a privilege and not a right. The mere act of granting a license or permit, is granting the privilege to perform said activity. Governments cannot grant rights, statutes cannot grant rights. Anything granted is a privilege, plain and simple.

You may want to edit your Title. Make future searches easier.

LCTF? License Carry To Firearm?

I thought it may be a typo but you repeated LCTF several times in your post.

Correct, but it expedites the check and allows him to do it while I'm filling out the paperwork. I'm really not too worked up about a police officer having my SS# temporarily, considering all the crap they can look up on you if they're crooked anyways.

congrats to your father for getting his LTCF. Back in May or June whenever I applied for mine it took a week turnaround. However when I went in to get the picture I was informed that they had just started doing instant checks. I never understood why they didn't do instant checks before hand anyways. You can walk in and buy a handgun within 20 minutes with checks, but not get your LTCF. Never made sense to me

Smile TURNAROUND TIME LUZERNE COUNTY

Does anyone have any recent experience with Luzerne County LTCF turnaround times? Went in about two weeks ago, Instacheck approved, picture taken, etc. They said they were waiting on new cards for the photo LTCF and would mail the card out when they had it finished. I thought it had to be picked up in person. If you have any thoughts, etc. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I personally look at it as a "right" too, since PA is a "Shall issue" State. Anyone can get one provided they pass the background check.

Thanks & you're absolutely correct. No one could have asked for a better experience with the process.
