Default Concealed carry on your property without permit?

I am waiting for the paperwork to go through on my LTCF so I'm not official just yet. This morning I went out to do the usual stuff around the property and was thinking of bringing the shotgun in case I get a shot at a groundhog of turkey. I didn't want to lug that thing around so I just tossed the Bersa in my front pocket thinking at least I could use it to scare them off a little.

If is legal to carry concealed if you are on your property? I don't have a hoster for it otherwise I could have tossed it on the belt and been safe. i don't expect any cops to come strolling down to check me out, but it is an interesting question I think.

100% legal to carry concealed on your own property, no LTC needed. Work place too, as long as the owner approves.

My understanding is yes based on the statute:

Quote:
§ 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.

(a) Offense defined.--Any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.

That looks very good!

I do have one more question. Let's say that as I am out and about on the property I jump on the lawnmower, or turf cart, maybe tractor. Could that be considered a vehicle and thus illegal? Or is it only considered a vehicle if it is (a) on public roads or (b) road legal?

I'm not a lawyer but my understanding is concealed carry is legal at your place of work or home. If your open carrying you do not need a permit. And unless LEO's are going to raid your house they will not know your concealing on your property (I think it is legal though).

IANAL

The vehicle, lawnmower, what ever is on your property and in your control. You should be o.k. Don't drive over to see the neighbors, though.

No need for a CCW to carry concealed on one’s own property. Just hope you don’t get seen by someone shooting at groundhog or turkey with your pistol. Considered game animals and can not be hunted with semi auto pistol. Even on one’s own property.

Yes, I know it’s a sad time when you can be arrested by a game warden for shooting a turkey on your own property.

It is interesting to know that it is legal to CC on your own property...I did not know that. I usually open carry around the property (because I'm to lazy to renew my permit).

People look at me funny when in conversation I refer to my "Grass cutting gun" ( an IA 1911 45 in a cross draw paddle with snake shot and HPs)
