open carry is legal here (without a permit, even, except in philly). if an LEO did try to charge you with anything, it would be tossed in court. from a legal standpoint, you do not need to worry about whether or not your gun is completely concealed in PA. tactically, you'll get all kinds of arguments about whether or not you should worry about it, but, legally, it is not a problem. |

I thought the reason to get a perrmit was so that people didn't know you were carrying... ??

That's why the poll is private, comment on your permit at your own risk

Simon the reason for the permit is if you want to hide it or carry loaded in your car. You do not need a permit to open carry check out Pa firearms code.Opencarry.org Mtn Jack

Even if the poll weren't private, I do not expect to stroll down the street and see someone coming towards me with a big sign on their shirt saying Hello, My name is SimonTuffGuy just as you will not see me wearing one that says PennsyPlinker on it. Posting here may not be 100% anonymous, but it is as close as doesn't matter.

I've had PA carry cards for the past 25 years, and just recently acquired the Fla. non-resident card for traveling out of state.

I just got my PA liscence this past Monday after Easter while I was home on leave. Walked in and had it in hand with in 15 minutes. Still waiting for my South Carolina permit (where I'm stationed) South Carolina takes the full 90 day period they have before they issue. I have heard that they sit on the paperwork for that time, I guess to see if you do anything wrong so they can deny it. SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) has lobbied to the state congress to repeal the "shall issue" verbage in the law to go back to the "may issue" like it was before.
