Default Delaware reciprocity

Governor Minner signed Delaware HB178 on July 11, 2003 establishing CCW permit reciprocity with any state that would recognize the Delaware license. At the time, I tried to organize a write in campaign to AG Fisher with shamefully little local interest. After Fisher left office, I wrote to Pappert with the same results. Well we have a new AG and I haven't written to him yet, so this goes in the mail this afternoon:

Quote:
The Honorable Tom Corbett
Office of Attorney General
Strawberry Square
Harrisburg, PA 17120

Attorney General Corbett:

Nearly 4 years ago, the state of Delaware passed legislation which establishes concealed carry weapons license reciprocity with any state that would recognize the Delaware license. I write today to urge you to forge an agreement with the state of Delaware to extend reciprocal license recognition. Your constituent's needs for protection of family and self do not end at the Pennsylvania border. Please do all in your power to facilitate this important and long overdue negotiation.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely;
imashooter2

soberbyker has provided a bit of eduction in another thread.

Quote:
Pursuant to 11 Del.C. § 1441(j), as of July 11, 2003, Delaware law allows residents of other states who have been issued a concealed deadly weapon license or permit by certain other states to lawfully carry concealed deadly weapons in Delaware if the state that issued the permit or license also recognizes Delaware's concealed deadly weapons licenses, and if Delaware's Attorney General also determines that the concealed deadly weapons licensing or permit laws in the issuing state "afford a reasonably similar degree of protection as is provided by licensure in Delaware." The Attorney General has determined that only states that require proof of training in firearms safety as a part of their licensing or permit process can meet this requirement.
Seems the problem is not with our AG... guess I just saved a stamp.

It's pricy -- not just the license but the price of the required class, fingerprints, passport photos, notary fees.

A lot of the Philly area ranges have a one-stop-shop deal where in one half-day, they do the whole thing: the class, the fingerprints, the photos, the notary, and walk you through the form. I ran around and did everything myself and I have to say the range-event would have been worth it. Maybe a range in your area does the same?

According to packing.org a hunter safety certificate is accepted as training for a Florida permit. Has anyone here used a hunter safety certificate to get their Florida permit?

I used hunter safety. I also renewed about 2 times with it. The cost is 117 for 5 years. Hunter safety is free I think. You get 28 or so states with a fl permit. very good value.
