How do you go about getting one? And what's the cost?

It's pricy -- not just the license but the price of the required class, fingerprints, passport photos, notary fees.
A lot of the Philly area ranges have a one-stop-shop deal where in one half-day, they do the whole thing: the class, the fingerprints, the photos, the notary, and walk you through the form. I ran around and did everything myself and I have to say the range-event would have been worth it. Maybe a range in your area does the same? |

According to packing.org a hunter safety certificate is accepted as training for a Florida permit. Has anyone here used a hunter safety certificate to get their Florida permit?

I used hunter safety. I also renewed about 2 times with it. The cost is 117 for 5 years. Hunter safety is free I think. You get 28 or so states with a fl permit. very good value.
