Default LTCF and restraining order?

I have a question I’m hoping I can get an answer to.

My wife and I have a very close friend who we've known since we where children. She grew up with parents who both carried regularly and took her shooting regularly, she knows how to properly use firearm.

She has had “altercations” in the past, and now lives alone, and after talking to my wife and I she was thinking about getting her ltc and a handgun for protection. She hasn't had the money to purchase one in the past, so as of yet she hasn't bought one, or applied for her ltc.

Here is the problem!

One of her "altercations" aka a crazy ex boyfriend who she thought she finally cut ties too and who started stalking her this week after somehow getting her phone number and starting leaving messages on her phone. They are nothing that is obviously threatening, but she said they are not normal and scare her. My wife tried to convince her to go to the police a year ago when she left her ex but she wouldn't at the time. Today when our friend left work she looked in the rearview mirror and saw her ex following her. She drove around for a long time trying to see if he’d leave because she doesn’t want him to know where she lives now. Eventually she drove to the local police office and the ex left. She then went inside and started the process of getting a restraining order against him. She called my wife and told her what he was doing, and my wife told her to her to come stay at our house for a few days so he doesn’t find out where she lives until the cops hopefully sort this out.

To finish the restraining order she has to go to the courthouse on Monday (she got the day off work to do this) she asked me if she would be able to get the restraining order and a ltc both on Monday - or if she won’t be able to get her ltc since she’s getting a restraining order.

I wasn't sure about this, if anyone can shed some light on this, please do so! Thanks in advance!

as I understand it she can get one but the ex will loose his right to firearms for the duration of the order. there is a law that is in the works to speed up the process of her getting a LTCF but it isn't going to help her now. perhaps the sheriff will expedite her LTCF. one can hope.

Oh someone will need to serve the ex with the order.

I can't see any "issue" here.

It's not like they ask if you anything on the application that has to do with such things.

If anything, it would be HIM that the restraining order may affect where firearm ownership is concerned.(but I'm not certain of that)

We live in washington county and they issue on the spot (in and out in under 20 minutes) assuming everythign comes back okay. And i know her well, and ive asked her in case there is anything i dind't know, so her background check should come back in the clear

If the restraining order isn't going to come into play somehow with her obtaining her ltc she would get it on the spot.

Does she have the money to go buy a handgun and holster? I don't think she would have a problem getting the LTCF, and they don't cost alot usually from what I have read on here, but how about the gun? Thank goodness that county has a walk in walk out LTCF process and PA has instant b/g checks on gun purchases. Imagine if she lived in MD...

She has a portion of what she would need to buy herself a handgun. Her dad may be helping her with the rest of the cash she would need.

Another thing to consider(in addition to a firearm)is OC spray.
They are inexpensive enough that she could place them in different parts of her home/vehicle as an added level of protection.

Just a thought. I pray that this doesn't escalate to the point of using force.
