Congrats! Just know the UFA, and take carrying a firearm seriously. Here's to never having to use it

Think often in various situations how they might go bad, and what your response would be. Think about how to get out of using the gun, or better yet how to not be in such a situation to start with. I got mine when I was 22 and the biggest change in my life was taking pains to not be around trouble because I knew deadly force might result. You're not a pussy if you walk away from a fight - you need to think of yourself, and for yourself. You should also practice drawing and shooting, and research the law of deadly force so you can learn your rights under the law. Don't get complacent with gun safety - this can be harder than you think. I would also highly recommend you attend a Lethal Force Institute class. It is expensive, but I guarantee you will find it most valueable. I just took the class last year and really wish I had done so earlier. You get some good range instruction, but the high value is the in-depth analysis of lethal force use. Good luck and welcome to the club. Scott |

Print several copies of this.
PennsylvaniaGunRights.pdf If you haven't already, read it carefully, and then read it again. Keep one on you at all times whether you OC or CC, and give them out liberally to any one you think wants or needs a copy. This falls under the common sense catagory, but I'll throw it out there anyway. Stay alert, know your surroundings, and never, ever flash a concealed gun to impress or scare anyone. |

that LTCF is worthless if you can't get the gun out of the holster in a safe and smooth manner!

Just don't make gun owners look bad by waving it in traffic and sticking up liquor stores.
Just carry safely, and remember that your behavior reflects on gun owners everywhere. Carry around the house to get comfortable and if you don't like one in the pipe then don't put one in until you're comfortable. The uneasy feeling of having a gun on you goes away really quickly. The it's just like anything else on your belt. What else? Shoot alot, and don't forget that if you get caught with crack AND your gun you get in more trouble.

You'll think that the whole world knows you have a GUN.
You'll find yourself constantly checking to see if your shirt has ridden up, exposing a glint of steel(or plasticky substance). You'll look at your reflection in car windows, and storefronts to see if anyone can "see it". Don't worry about it. Nobody will notice a thing. Aside from that, the advice found in the posts above is very good advice. |

Drink your milk daily, so your bones are strong. Other than that, its basic common sense.

It may seem trivial but with your LTCF you can carry concealed. You can open carry without an LTCF in any county with the exception of Philadelphia County. You need a valid LTCF or one from a state recognized by the PA AG to open carry or conceal carry in Phila. |
