I have been using a Dickies leather work belt for my IWB concealment rig. I feel that I want to upgrade to a gun belt. What are your opinions on this:
http://thewilderness.com/catalog/pro...products_id/35 I have read many good reveiws. I am looking for any other advice on the topic as well. What is working for you? What has worked for you in the past? Alternative options to the high priced (though probably worth it, no doubt) leather I see on the net? |

Hey Jay G., I have to laugh as I also use a Dickie's work belt(made in the USA) with my rig. I noticed last week I had to bring it in another notch, either I have lost a few pounds(doubtful) or the belt is stretching. For OWB carry, a strong belt is needed. For around $30, the Wilderness belt you mentioned should be a good buy. Give it a try and let us know...Mike45

I have a few 1.25" leather gun belts from Waldon. Sadly Mark is no longer in the gun-leather business. These belts are plenty stiff and work quite well with all my holsters.
However, I recently bought some 5.11 pants and my leather belts looked sorta weird so I bought a Wilderness Frequent Flyer in 1.25" with the extra stitching and it is terrific. In spite of all the good reviews I've read on the Wilderness belts, I was still quite surprised at how stiff and sturdy these things are. If my holsters were built for it, I'd get one in 1.5" but I have way too much money invested in my holsters to switch from 1.25". I now have two Wilderness Frequent Flyer belts and I can recommend them highly. Mike

I like Kramer but they are pricey. I don't have a belt from rafter S but have purchased mag pouches and they are of good quality. From what I heard about their belts they are good as well. But I found delivery slow, but at $50 or so for good belt wait may not be that bad.

What kind of belt for a WOMAN to use? Mind you, the belt loops on most womens skirts/slacks are a LOT smaller than those on guys' pants, so a 1 1/2" wide beld is NOT going to cut it (A lot of our belt loops will only accomodate a 3/4" wide belt, 1 inch IF we're lucky.)

Thanks for the link. I checked out ths site. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that they make belts for women. Guess I'll have to keep searching.
