I have to agree.

I had heard years ago that open carry was legal but had no proof to that effect. I had also herd that a "carry permit" meant that it should always be covered or you could get in trouble.

Isn't the internet great. It has made things that has always been inaccessible or to arduous to access in the past.

This is really a sad state of affairs for the future generations. Our bastions of higher education are dumbing down our kids so badly that they do not understand their rights under the constitutions (federal and state).

$20,000-$30,000 per semester to be brainwashed? What are the parents thinking - from a dad of four. Pick their schools carefully, most are not worth the money, and you will not like the ideals that your loved ones give back to you.

I did have someone tell me awhile back that open carry was legal, but only if I did not posses a "Pennsylvania Concealed Carry Permit." Apparently, the permit in their eyes would require me to hide my weapon. Imagine my surprise when I actually learned the law.

Honestly, I'm glad this site opened my eyes - I've always wanted to shoot, but I lived with a staunch anti (my mother) for the first 20 years of my life. I have PAFOA to thank for making me a free citizen instead of a subject.

Before moving to Pennsylvania 6 years ago I thought handguns were illegal or highly regulated in Philly as well. I also thought that whatever applied to Philly probably applied to the rest of the state as well. I got the misinformation from my fiancee's family, who are not gun people. When I started getting back into guns I got more misinformation from the FFLs I dealt with. I didn't learn about the real laws until joining this site.

Even with me repeating the law to them over the past year, they still thought you needed a "permit" to even buy a gun, and certainly could not carry one. They also thought "Concealed Carry Permits" were next to impossible to get. Further, they thought that "Assault Weapons" were illegal, and that magazine capacity was limited. The idea of Open Carry nearly sent them into hysterics. Apparently they thought they lived in Washington, DC.

Now I have open carried around them, and since no SWAT team appeared and no little old ladied had heart attacks at Olive Garden they SHOULD be a little cooler about it. Her dad read the brochure, but he is an old hippie, and it may not be retained in his memory long.

What excellent logic Sure let only the bad guys have guns and not law-abiding folks to defend themselves against the scum

Man, I'm glad I don't have the job of educating these people with regard to gun right's. Old hippies can be educated. While I was never a "Hippie", I've certainly been educated, mostly by the members of this site. These people really know their S**t.

Yes they do, and if weren't for this site and the people here I still wouldn't have a real clue.

Your old friend obviously is one of the many people who *thinks* he knows about the law because he heard it through the grapevine.
It's like this guy who told me that you may not tear a dollar bill in half or put a penny on the railroad tracks because it's "defacing government property."
Motor vehicle law is another area where *everyone* is an expert.

Tell your friend to lay off the beer bong and learn about the gun laws of PA.
